Today’s lesson of the day.
Texas law for dummies if you will.
If the police go to pull you over in a marked unit with lights and siren activated............. and you don't stop for you attempt to flee............. you get a free ride to Gilmer and all-expense paid stay and the Upshur County Bed and Breakfast!
If you are wondering why I decided to add this tad bit of information, here's why.
Earlier this afternoon Officer Hollis witnessed a grey sports car traveling on East Mountain North at about 40 mph when the marked limit is 20. Officer Hollis hit the red and blue lights and the driver of the vehicle accelerated away from him.
That was not nice.
As the vehicle accelerated away from Officer Hollis, he turned north on Medlin Rd and accelerated away at over 70 MPH on a road full of kids.
Officer Hollis kept a careful eye on the vehicle as to not add anymore danger to the residential area.
The vehicle turned on Atkins lane and the driver tried to hide his car but when confronted by Officer Hollis, He decided it was best to comply with the orders that were being given to him.
The driver did in fact enjoy a nice guided tour to the Upshur County Bed and Breakfast where he was released to the inn keeper without any further issues.
When you run from the law you only put innocent citizens, the officers and yourself in grave danger. Not to mention the court fee's fines and bail money.
Great work by Officer Hollis ensured the situation resolved quickly without any injuries or property damage.
Thank you and have a safe weekend
