Today, we have a heartfelt announcement and an opportunity to recognize and celebrate an incredible career of service.

After 38 years in law enforcement, Deputy Clay Robertson has announced his retirement. Deputy Robertson has proudly served as the School Resource Officer at New Diana Elementary since 2013, dedicating the past 13 years to protecting, supporting, and caring for the students and staff of New Diana Elementary.

For countless children, Deputy Robertson has been more than an SRO. He has been a familiar face in the hallways, a protector, a trusted friend, and someone they knew they could count on. His presence has made a lasting difference in the lives of the students and staff he has served.

We are incredibly grateful for Deputy Robertson’s 38 years of dedicated service to law enforcement and his 13 years of faithful service to the New Diana Elementary community. His commitment, kindness, and dedication will not be forgotten.

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Clay Robertson on his retirement and wishing him all the best in this next chapter of life.

Stronger Together: Preparing for Complex Emergencies 🚔🚒🚑!

During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, House Bill 33 (HB 33) was passed, requiring countywide agencies to participate in training and exercises focused on responding to complex, multi-agency incidents.

This week, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office hosted a two-day training/ exercise at the Gilmer Civic Center, bringing together Upshur County law enforcement, fire, EMS, and dispatch personnel. The goal was to strengthen communication, coordination, and overall response to large-scale emergencies.

Training together ensures we are better prepared to serve our community when it matters most.

A sincere thank you to all participating agencies and personnel who took time from their duties to train, collaborate, and prepare for the unexpected. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to Upshur County are deeply appreciated!

Sheriff Webb is pleased to announce the promotion of Deputy Matthew Sartor to the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant Sartor has proudly served the citizens of Upshur County for more than 9 years and brings a total of 14 years of law enforcement experience to his new position.

Outside of his law enforcement duties Sergeant Sartor also serves our community as an EMT and a volunteer fire fighter, continuing his commitment to help and protect others.
