Today we celebrate the retirement of Jason Murray after 18 years and 9 months of dedicated service with the Gilmer Police Department.

Over the years, Jason has served our community with professionalism, dedication, and a commitment to keeping Gilmer safe. His hard work, experience, and friendship have made a lasting impact on our department and everyone who has had the privilege of working alongside him.

While we are excited for him as he begins this new chapter, we will certainly miss having him here with us. His presence, knowledge, and sense of humor will leave a void that wonโ€™t easily be filled.

Please join us in congratulating Jason on his well-deserved retirement and thanking him for nearly two decades of service to the citizens of Gilmer.

Congratulations, Jason! Thank you for your service, your dedication, and the memories. We wish you nothing but happiness, good health, and success in your retirement. You will be greatly missed by your Gilmer PD family. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš”

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12โ€“18), we recognize the dedicated 911 dispatchers of the Gilmer Police Department.

Our dispatchers are the first first-responders. They are the calm in chaos โ€” answering emergency calls, gathering critical information, and sending help where itโ€™s needed mostโ€ฆ all within seconds.

They donโ€™t get to see the outcome of every call. They carry the weight of what they hear, yet continue to show up, focused and ready to serve.

Their job requires strength, compassion, quick thinking, and heart.

To our Gilmer Police Department dispatchers โ€” thank you for being the steady voice when it matters most. Your work does not go unnoticed.

Upshur County Sheriff's Office dispatchers we also appreciate you as well.

๐Ÿš“๐Ÿ”ฅ Great Night at Risk It for the Brisket! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš“

Officer Williams and Officer Gallegos had the opportunity to hang out with DJ Daniel at the โ€œRisk It for the Brisketโ€ event! ๐Ÿ–

DJ is an incredible young man who has been sworn in as an honorary officer by over 1,300 law enforcement agencies across the country. It was an honor getting to spend some time with him and share a few laughs.

Events like this are what community policing is all aboutโ€”building relationships and making lasting memories with the people we serve.
