CRAWFORD COUNTY, KS: Damien Yarbrough, 50, of Pittsburg, has been convicted of R**e and Aggravated Criminal So**my.

On August 23, 2025, the Pittsburg Police Department was dispatched to the Best Value Inn in Pittsburg for a report of a sexual assault that had occurred. It was reported that the defendant forced the juvenile victim into his motel room and sexually assaulted her.

Yarbrough is being held without bond in the Crawford County Jail. He will be sentenced on July 20, 2026.

REMINDER: Dust Control applications for Crawford County residents have been extended through Friday, May 22, 2026.

This program is designed to reduce airborne dust, improve roadway visibility and safety, and help extend the life of gravel roads. Applications are expected to take place in early June, with scheduling dependent on weather conditions. Marker flags will be placed one week in advance to designate treatment areas.

No Labels Kansas Terminates Its Status As Political Party In Kansas

TOPEKA - At the request of No Labels Kansas, the office of the Kansas Secretary of State terminated its status as an officially recognized political party in the state.

No Labels Kansas was officially recognized as a political party in January 2024 after their petition was approved by the Secretary of State. The party notified the Secretary of State's office on Friday, May 15, of its desire to terminate its status in Kansas.

Counties have been directed, pursuant to state law, to change voter registration records with the No Labels Kansas party to an unaffiliated party affiliation.
