In remembrance of a cherished voice of Howard Falls’ past. Edith L. Elliott Konnerth (February 28, 1927 – April 23, 2026) lived a life rooted deeply in Erie.
Born in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Elliott (1903-1931) and Maxine Elliott Howard (1904-1984). Her father passed in 1931, and in 1934 her mother married Lawrence T Howard (1911-1993).
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Harold M Konnerth (1929-2024) and her sister, Jean Elliott Groves (1924-2007)
Growing up, Edith spent much time at Howard Falls during the game farm era, and is pictured here with a ring-necked pheasant raised on the farm and with Levi T Howard (1873-1974) in front of his old barn. She even lived in the Cottage for a time in the late 1930s. We will greatly miss her and the vivid stories she shared that help keep that chapter of Howard Falls history alive.
Edith joined us at the Cottage Open House this past fall, where we had the pleasure of hearing her stories of time spent at the Falls (photographed above the falls by Phil Norton, )
