Please keep former Girard Fire and Rescue member Justin “Fish” Adams and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he is recovering from a major head injury. Fish has been a part of the fire service family, and now it’s our turn to stand behind him.

Come out tonight for Hank Greenwalt and a cold drink. 🍻 We are accepting “tips” for one of our former firemen Fish.

What a day to remember for our little town!

Thousands of people came to Girard to witness the historic Union Pacific Big Boy, and it was incredible to see our community come together for such a special event.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our neighboring agencies for their assistance throughout the day, especially with the multiple heat-related emergencies:
• Virden Fire & Rescue
• Northwestern Fire & Rescue
• Prairieland Ambulance
• Gillespie/Benld Ambulance

We also want to thank the Girard Police Department, Virden Police Department, Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office, and Illinois State Police for helping keep everyone safe. A special thank you goes out to the bystanders who stepped in to assist patients before EMS arrived. Your willingness to help truly reflects the strength of this community.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the Girard Fire Association food tent—we completely SOLD OUT! Your support means the world to our small department, and every purchase helps us continue serving our community.
