Just in case you missed the announcement last week, we are launching the Kansas Clinic this year! This clinic is designed to give everyone, from those new to the Honor Guard to seasoned veterans, extensive training on all aspects of Honor Guard. Students can expect instruction on appearance and the wear of the uniform, basic drills and ceremony, flag operations, and more.

So, if you have not registered yet, don't worry! Registration is open until September 15. Don't wait too long though, spots fill up quickly (we cap at 50) and we do not want you to miss out!

This weekend May 2nd and 3rd is National Fallen Firefighters Memorial weekend. 204 of our Nations Fallen Firefighters will be honored and their names will be added to the National Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland. You can watch the 6:30 pm (central time) Saturday night candlelight service by clicking on the link bellow and the 9 am (central time) Sunday morning Memorial Service by clicking on its link bellow.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Girard Fire Department Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service October 18th at 2pm. As we will honor these same 204 Fallen Firefighters.

It was our honor tto be apart of today's graveside service for Bruce Lynn Jeffers at the National Cemetery in Fort Scott.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of another Kansas Firefighter. Firefighter Paramedic William Cory "Liam" Price of the Ford County Fire & EMS Department had a medical emergency while on duty and passed away after air transport to a Wichita hospital. Firefighter Paramedic Price your family and department are in our thoughts and prayers

Today we take time to pause and reflect on the memory of Firefighter Harold Reed Sr of the Chautauqua County Fire District #3 also known as the Peru Fire Department.

On April 11, 2010 Harold had a Cardiac Medical Emergency while fighting a grass fire. All efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.

Harold you are not forgotten and we thank you for your service. To Honor you and your service your name has been placed on the following memorials: The National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland, The Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Wichita, Kansas and The Southeast Kansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Girard, Kansas.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of firefighter Carl Levi Evans of the Greely County Kansas Fire Department.

Today we Remember Asst. Chief Frank Enke of the Girard Kansas Fire Department who died in the line of duty 43 year's ago today.

After responding to a fire call, while on duty at the station Asst. Chief Enke started to feel ill and went to the Fire Chief to let him know he wasn't feeling good. The Fire Chief took him to the Girard Hospital Emergency Room, where Asst. Chief Enke died approximately an hour later from cardiac arrest.

Assistant Chief Frank Enke has been honored by placing his name on the following memorials, the Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Wichita, KS, the Southeast Kansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial at Girard Fire Department, and in 2024 his name was added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

You are not forgotten Asst. Fire Chief Frank Enke, and we thank you for your service!
