We were honored to welcome Lindsay Shively from KSHB 41 to Boost KC! Lindsay visited the Patty Garney Program Center to see our spring Threads2Thrive clothing session in action — getting a firsthand look at how we provide essential clothing and support to students in our community. She also stopped by The ReSale Shop - Powered by Boost KC, where every purchase helps fund our programs.

A small tool… making a big difference. 💙

Through our Child In Need program, Boost KC is introducing sensory kits at Crestview Elementary in the NKC School District — giving students a discreet way to self-regulate, refocus and stay engaged in the classroom. These kits support students without singling them out — helping create a more inclusive, supportive learning environment for all.

This pilot effort will also help us measure impact and expand this program to more schools across our community. This is just the beginning!

Boost KC proudly celebrates a remarkable honor for one of our own! 👏👏👏

Longtime Boost KC member volunteer Mimi Garstang will receive an honorary Doctor of Public Affairs degree from Missouri State University during its Spring 2026 commencement. She is the first woman to have served as Missouri’s State Geologist and Director of the Missouri Geological Survey — a trailblazing career devoted to public service, science and education.

Throughout her career, Mimi advanced Missouri’s economy and environmental stewardship, strengthened public safety through science and mentored the next generation of geologists and engineers. Even in retirement, she continues to support scholarships, professional education and science-informed public policy across Missouri.

Mimi has also shared her time and talents with Boost KC since 2009, making a lasting difference in our community through her volunteer service.

Congratulations, Mimi, on this well-deserved honor — and thank you for all you do to uplift others! 💙❤️
