As you head out to enjoy parades, fireworks, and community celebrations, remember to stay alert around roads and busy intersections.

Today's safety tip comes from Detective Sergeant Aaron Quinlan of the Gladstone Public Safety Department . A few simple precautions, like using crosswalks, holding young children's hands near roadways, and staying aware of increased holiday traffic, can help keep everyone safe.

Before the festivities begin in Gladstone, stop by the Gladstone Public Safety Department booth at the park to pick up a FREE child ID bracelet! It's a quick and easy way to help law enforcement reunite families if a child becomes separated in the crowd.

As part of our 4th of July Safety Series, today's safety tip comes from School Resource Officer Mallory Nelsen, of the Gladstone Department of Public Safety.

"One of my biggest safety tips this Fourth of July is to make sure children are always supervised by a trusted adult. If you'll be attending festivities, consider having your child wear an ID bracelet with a parent's phone number. If they become separated in the crowd, first responders or event staff can quickly contact you. It's a simple step that can make a big difference."

Summer celebrations are meant to be fun. A little planning before you head out can help keep everyone safe and give families extra peace of mind.
