Severe Weather Threat: Conditional threat for strong to severe storms on Friday afternoon, with higher chances (20-40%) after sunset, primarily large hail and damaging winds.

Storm Movement: Storms expected to move east out of Kansas on Friday evening.

Gladstone Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) is currently recruiting volunteers to join our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in either an active or reserve capacity. As a GEMA member, you will receive training on how to respond to disasters and emergencies. You will also play a critical role in supporting your community during times of need.

GEMA members are trained to assist emergency responders in tasks such as search and rescue, basic first aid, and disaster response. You will also have the opportunity to help educate your community on emergency preparedness, which can be a crucial step in reducing the impact of disasters.

Volunteering as a GEMA member is a fantastic way to give back to your community, gain new skills, earn volunteer hours for college, and even make a positive impact in the lives of those around you. You'll also have the opportunity to meet and work with like-minded individuals who share your passion for helping others.

Here's a morning update on today's severe weather risk across the Plains.

The Enhanced risk (level 3/5) has been expanded to include the Kansas City metro area and portions of south-central Oklahoma. Although some uncertain remains regarding thunderstorm coverage, thunderstorms that can develop may be intense and pose a risk of very large hail and strong tornadoes.

‼️ Another winter storm will bring accumulating snowfall and widespread travel impacts late TONIGHT through early WEDNESDAY.

‼️ This is expected to be an all-snow event with the most significant amounts along and south of I-70.

‼️ This will be coupled with dangerously low temperatures and wind chills over the next few days. Please take the necessary precautions and plan to stay in if you can!

Impactful snowfall continues on track to impact the region late Tuesday night through Wednesday, including the potential for 6 or more inches of snow.

Regardless of final amount, the morning and evening commutes are likely to be impacted. Please plan accordingly.
