We’re proud to help make possible programs that help older adults remain safe and independent in their homes.

Recently, Northland Neighborhoods, Inc. (NNI) reported that funding from us helped to restore hot water for an older adult with mobility challenges who had gone without it for over a month. This critical home repair improved their safety, health, and quality of life. https://www.nni.org/

Northland Neighborhoods, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to neighborhood improvement and revitalization in Clay and Platte counties in Missouri.

A place to connect, create, and belong can make a meaningful difference in an older adult’s life. 💙

A participant first visited the Liberty Silver Center (City of Liberty, Mo. Government) while learning about center operations through a partnership with the Mid-America Regional Council. After experiencing personal loss during the pandemic, she found comfort and connection through the center’s grief support group.

Encouraged by family to join activities at Liberty Silver Center, she quickly became an active part of the community—participating in lunches, educational presentations, creative classes, and social programs. Looking for a positive way to stay engaged after leaving her previous role, she began volunteering and soon became a valued part-time staff member.

Through funding from Clay County Senior Services, programs like those offered at the Liberty Silver Center provide older adults opportunities for connection, purpose, and friendship. This participant's journey has come full circle—from a first-time visitor to a familiar face who now helps make the center a welcoming place for others.

She shared that the Liberty Silver Center helped fill a significant void in her life, and she has truly found a place to call home. 💙

Access to healthcare can make all the difference in an older adult’s ability to maintain their health and independence. 💙

We received this report from Northland Health Care Access, one of our community partners:

Last year, "Lorraine" was referred to them after her oncologist recommended breast imaging. Because she could not afford the cost of the necessary scans, she had gone months without receiving this important care. Through funding from Clay County Senior Services, we were able to connect her with Imaging for Women and help ensure she received the services she needed.

Earlier this year, Lorraine faced another barrier when she needed eye surgery but was unable to afford the required copay and deductible. Remembering the assistance she had received through our program, she reached out again—and we were able to help make her procedure possible.

Lorraine shared that without this support, she would not have been able to receive the care needed to protect her vision and maintain her health.

For residents living in Excelsior Springs, Kearney and Smithville - OATS has transportation available for shopping trips! This is a great resource at a very reasonable cost.

Drivers do not accept payment from riders on the bus. Riders can add funds to their account before riding and each time they ride the fare will be withdrawn.  When calling to add funds to your account a minimum amount of $10.00 is required. You can send a personal check, money order, or cashier’s...
