Early Dismissal – Thursday, September 3

To keep dismissal safe and traffic moving smoothly, Gladwin Community Schools will dismiss early next Thursday, September 3.

Jr. High & High School: 2:30 PM
Elementary & Intermediate: 3:00 PM

That afternoon and evening, our campus will also be hosting the Delmac bike touring group, who will be camping at the High School, along with the JV football game vs. Spring Lake at 4:00 PM. With all of this happening in the same area, we're adjusting dismissal times to avoid overlap and reduce congestion — we expect Elementary and Intermediate traffic to be clear of the area by 3:15 PM.

As artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday life in classrooms, workplaces, and homes, Gladwin Community Schools is taking a proactive, thoughtful approach rather than leaving staff and students to figure it out on their own.

That's why we're introducing an AI Coach for our district.

What this means:
For teachers - support in understanding best practices for AI, so it's used responsibly and never replaces good teaching, just supports it.
For students - clear guidance on expectations, rules, and digital citizenship around AI, so they understand how to use it appropriately (and when not to).
For our district - better tools to look at data and trends that help us make smarter decisions for our schools and kids.

We know AI is a topic with a lot of different opinions, and that's okay. Our goal isn't to chase a trend. Our goal is to make sure Gladwin students and staff are prepared, informed, and protected as this technology becomes part of the world they're growing up and working in. Doing nothing isn't a neutral choice; kids are already encountering AI, and we'd rather guide that than ignore it.

Gladwin High School Orientation Update

Gladwin High School orientation is still taking place today as scheduled.

GHS is currently without power. Water and sewer services are still operational, but our phones and internet are currently down.

We have paper schedules available for all students, and we will still be conducting tours for new high school students.

Today’s Orientation Schedule:
● 1–4 p.m. — Students in grades 10–12
● 5–7 p.m. — Incoming 9th graders

Our current estimated power restoration time is 3 p.m.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this unexpected issue. We look forward to seeing our students today!

📋 Online Registration & Emergency Forms Are Now Available!

Gladwin Community Schools families can now complete required registration documents and emergency forms online through the Skyward Family Portal.

Please take a few minutes to log in, review your student’s information, complete the required forms, and make any necessary updates.

🔑 Need Skyward access or a password reset? Contact the main office at any school your child attends, and one of our secretaries will be happy to help. If you have multiple children in the district, you only need to contact one school office.

GHS Students and Families:

Unfortunately, high school student schedules will not be available to view tomorrow, Monday, August 3rd, as originally planned due to recent technical issues with Skyward.

We know how eager everyone is to see schedules with the school year approaching, and we’re working hard to fix the issue quickly. Please keep an eye on your email as we will send an update as soon as they are ready in the next few days.
