One of the biggest challenges our department is currently facing is a lack of daytime volunteers.

We are incredibly blessed to have 35 dedicated members on our roster, but during the weekday hours of Monday through Friday, we typically only have 3–4 firefighters available on a good day to respond on emergency calls. Emergencies don’t just happen at night or on weekends, and having enough personnel during the day is critical to serving our communities.

If you’re retired, work off-shifts, have a flexible schedule, or are simply looking for a meaningful way to give back, we would love to have you join our team. No prior experience is necessary—we provide the training you need to become a volunteer firefighter.

Your community needs you, and just a few hours of your time could make a life-saving difference.

Another productive evening at our new training tower! Tonight, our firefighters focused on communication skills in low visibility conditions, simulating the challenging environments encountered during real structure fires. Effective communication is critical when visibility is reduced by smoke, helping crews maintain accountability, coordinate operations, and ensure the safety of both firefighters and the people we serve.

Training like this allows our members to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and prepare for the situations they may face on emergency scenes. We are proud to have this training facility in our own backyard, providing valuable hands-on experience that helps keep our communities safe.

🚒 THFPD Station 4 Needs Volunteer Firefighters! 🚒

The Timber Hollis Fire Protection District’s Station 4, serving the Tuscarora neighborhood, is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team of volunteer firefighters.

Currently, Station 4 is staffed by 5 members, and we are seeking additional volunteers to help strengthen our response capabilities and better serve our community.

As a volunteer firefighter, you will:
🔥 Serve your community when it needs you most
🔥 Receive hands-on training and valuable emergency response experience
🔥 Train alongside experienced firefighters
🔥 Have the opportunity to obtain your Basic Operations Firefighter and EMT-Basic certifications with department assistance
🔥 Become part of a proud tradition of service and teamwork

Requirements:
✔ Must be at least 16 years old
✔ Must live within the fire district
✔ Must have a desire to serve the community

Training is held every Wednesday from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Station 1, located at 401 S. Glasford Road in Glasford.

The Timber Hollis Fire Protection District Station 2 in Kingston Mines is actively seeking more Volunteer Firefighters to join our team.

Currently, we have 6 dedicated volunteers serving the Kingston Mines community, but we are looking to grow our ranks to ensure we can continue providing the highest level of emergency response and protection for our residents.

As a volunteer firefighter, you’ll have the opportunity to:
• Serve and protect your community
• Gain valuable firefighting and emergency response skills
• Train alongside experienced firefighters
• Receive assistance obtaining your Basic Operations Firefighter and EMT-Basic certifications

Tonight, THFD firefighters put our new burn tower to work, training on one of the most critical skills in the fire service: search and rescue operations.

Members practiced conducting primary and secondary searches in a realistic, low-visibility environment, focusing on search techniques, firefighter communication, teamwork, and victim location. The new burn tower provides an excellent opportunity for our firefighters to train in conditions that closely mimic real-world incidents while staying close to home.

Having this training facility in our district allows us to provide more frequent, high-quality training to our members, helping ensure they are prepared when our community needs them most.

Some amazing photos were captured of our apparatus at yesterday’s Memorial Day parade. Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. We are proud to take part in this tradition each year and represent our community alongside so many others who continue to serve. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the parade and help remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Tonight, members of the THFPD trained on essential engine company operations, sharpening the skills that keep our crews efficient and our community protected. Firefighters spent the evening working hands-on with apparatus pumping procedures, focusing on maintaining proper pressures and ensuring a steady, reliable water supply during fireground operations.

Crews also practiced making hydrant connections, emphasizing quick and efficient hookups to establish a solid water source under real-world conditions. From there, firefighters advanced handlines and flowed water, reinforcing nozzle control, communication, and teamwork while operating under pressure.

Training like this is critical to staying prepared for the calls we face. Whether it’s a structure fire or a mutual aid response, these skills ensure we’re ready to perform safely and effectively when it matters most.
