Today, we stand with Trooper Phillips, his family, his fellow Kentucky State Police troopers, and the entire law enforcement community.

A coward made the decision to take one of our own from us. His actions have left behind a family grieving, fellow troopers mourning, and an entire law enforcement community hurting.

Evil never sleeps, but neither does the commitment of the men and women who wear the badge. We will continue to stand in the gap and protect the communities we have sworn to serve. We will stand together, support one another, and continue to hold the line.

Please take a moment tonight to say a prayer for Trooper Phillips, his family, the Kentucky State Police, and all of our brothers and sisters in law enforcement. We see the sacrifices you make every day, and we are grateful for your service.

We stand with Trooper Phillips. We stand with his family. We stand with Kentucky law enforcement. We will continue to stand in the gap for our communities.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – NURSE LICENSE SCAM 🚨

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a scam targeting nurses involving their professional licenses.

Nurses are being contacted by individuals claiming to be federal agents and are being told that their nursing license has been suspended or is under investigation. The scammers are then threatening that the victim’s bank accounts and property will be seized if they do not comply with their demands.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.

Do not provide these individuals with personal information, banking information, or money.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that legitimate government agencies will not threaten you over the phone with the immediate seizure of your bank accounts or property in this manner.

If you receive a suspicious call, do not engage with the caller or provide any information. Hang up and independently contact your licensing agency or local law enforcement using a verified phone number.

Please share this information with the nurses, healthcare professionals, and members of our community to help prevent others from becoming victims.
When in doubt, hang up and verify.

🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT — SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office has received reports that victims of crimes are being contacted by individuals falsely claiming to be affiliated with the Barren County Sheriff’s Office or the Barren County Correction Center.

These individuals are telling victims that the accused person in their case has been released from custody.
Please be aware that these calls are not coming from our agency. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office will not contact victims in this manner to provide information regarding an inmate’s release.

Victim notifications regarding custody status and changes in an offender’s status are provided through VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday).
If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide personal information or payment. If you have questions about a case or an inmate’s status, contact the Barren County Sheriff’s Office directly through an official number.

Please share this information to help protect victims and members of our community from becoming victims of this scam.

Update Parkway is back open

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office is currently working a single-vehicle accident on Cumberland Parkway near the 2-mile marker.
There is one occupant involved who is being transported by air for medical attention.
The westbound lanes of Cumberland Parkway are currently shut down. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and use an alternate route.
We will provide an update when the roadway is reopened.
Please use caution in the area and allow emergency crews plenty of room to work. đźš”

EXECUTIVE ORDER: No Outside Burning

Effective September 4, 2026 until further notice.

No outside burning order for all areas of Barren County effective immediately. This ban includes the lighting of fireworks and burning of any material outdoors. The burn ban will be in effect until lifted by revocation of this order after the hazardous conditions have been abated by sufficient rainfall.

Campfires that are contained in a fire pit within an established campground are Exempt from this order.
