It is extremely important to have a strong working relationship with your mutual aid departments. One thing about our department is the great relationship we have with Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.. Today, we teamed up to provide and distribute flood relief supplies to the victims in Goose Hauler around 4 p.m. This is what mutual aid and working together is all about.

We’re extremely proud to announce that our Fire Chief, Marty Blankenship, was named Fire Officer of the Year by the West Virginia State Firemen’s Association.

This evening at drill, Marty was presented with his plaque by Randy James of Frametown VFD and Mystik Miller of the W.I.L.D. Institute.

Marty was nominated for the award because of the work he put into the FEMA radio communications grant that helped 33 fire departments across West Virginia obtain new communications equipment. He spent countless hours traveling all over the state testing radios and making sure everything was ready to go.

That’s the kind of Chief Marty is. He puts in the work, not just for our department, but for fire departments across the state. He goes above and beyond for his members and the fire service.

Congratulations, Chief Blankenship! We’re proud to have you leading our department. Well deserved!

It is extremely important to encourage the future generation of first responders! If you’re over the age of 16 and would like to join our junior program, please reach out to our page or stop by on a Monday night around 6 PM!

Is your home as safe as you think it is?

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office has launched a free Home Safety Assessment that takes about 5 minutes to complete. The assessment helps identify potential fire hazards in your home and provides tips to help keep you and your family safe. It also helps the State Fire Marshal’s Office better understand fire safety needs across West Virginia.

The members of the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department encourage everyone in our community to take a few minutes to complete the survey. Fire prevention starts at home, and a few simple changes today could make a big difference tomorrow.

Take the assessment here:

Welcome to our Home Safety Survey and thank you for your participation! It will take just a few minutes to finish. Fill in your information below to get started.
