April 29, 2026 is National Fentanyl Awareness Day.

In recognition of National Fentanyl Awareness Day, the Rowan University Police Department is proud to join the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and My Friend’s House in Operation Helping Hand to support our community.

Thanks to My Friends House, members of the campus community can obtain FREE Narcan kits at our headquarters on the Glassboro Campus. Narcan is a critical, life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose when administered promptly.

We thank the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and My Friends House for their continued partnership and commitment to providing these critical resources.

Speed limits aren’t suggestions, they’re safety tools. Lower speeds mean more time to spot pedestrians, cyclists, and kids crossing the street. Getting there safely always beats getting there fast.

The Rowan University Police Department proudly recognizes our dispatchers during National Telecommunicators Week, beginning today, April 12, and continuing through April 18.

Our dispatchers rarely receive the credit they truly deserve. They are the *first* first responders—providing calm in the midst of chaos while working behind the scenes, often without ever knowing how the situations they handle turns out.

This week, we encourage everyone to take a moment to thank a dispatcher if you know one. Their dedication and professionalism make our work possible, and we are incredibly grateful for all that they do.

🔥 An extremely large brush fire is burning in West Deptford Twp. in the area of Sunoco Refinery property.

💨 Smoke plumes and fallen ash are reported as far south and east as Glassboro, Washington Twp., Franklin Twp. and beyond.

🚨 Onlookers are urged to stay out of the area! The amount of unnecessary vehicle and pedestrian traffic near the fire scene is hindering the emergency response and fire suppression efforts.

🚒 A vast number of resources throughout Gloucester County are on the scene or responding, fighting the fire and protecting structures. Multiple Fire Boats from both sides of the Delaware and teams from New Jersey Forest Fire Service are also assisting.

📣 Conditions are subject to change or worsen due to high winds or fire conditions.

⚠️ Those with health or breathing problems are urged to stay indoors or shut windows, if you are sensitive to smoke.

Drop off your unwanted/ expired prescription drugs at our drop box in the lobby of Bole Annex (601 Whitney Ave. Glassboro, NJ 08028) at anytime! The drop box is available 24/7.
