On May 18th, Glassboro High School Band Director, Arthur Myers, and Glassboro High School band member, Ijeoma Ufomba, along with 30 guest high school students and members of the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble (SJAWE), performed a special side-by-side concert at Atlantic County Institute of Technology. This special concert brought together talented high school musicians, regular members of the SJAWE and guest piano soloist, Dr. Jasmin Lee. The musical selections were directed by the SJAWE Musical Artistic Director, Dr. Keith Hodgson, guest conductor, Dr. Joseph Higgins of Rowan University, Associate Conductor, Ron Poorman, and Assistant Conductor, Jennifer Poorman Hodgson. Ijeoma and the other high school students joined the SJAWE for six selections in the second half of the concert. As a 10-year member of the SJAWE, Mr. Myers performed in both halves of the concert and was the featured off-stage trumpet soloist for An American Elegy, by Frank Ticheli.

On June 14th, another special concert will involve Mr. Myers, GHS Band alumni and some current GHS Band students. The Happy Birthday America Concert will be held at Salem Community College. The event will include an all-day pre-concert rehearsal and a 6:00 pm concert. Among the musicians gathering for this concert event are five GHS Band alumni and five current GHS Band students. Current students are Katey Olsen (flute), Ellie Whitaker (flute), Sofia Dungca (flute), Alexander Sabillena (trumpet) and Lenny Solano (euphonium). GHS alumni musicians performing are Melissa (Billington) Hamilton, Margret Reynods, Madison Oslen, Jonathon Knorr and Douglas Tranz, Jr. Mr. Myers will be performing on trumpet and is joining some of his current bandmate and former ones, ranging from his high school years, college years and beyond. This event is another example how music can bring people together.
