Last night, members of the department attended the Borough’s Council meeting, where Mayor Wallace and council recognized two men from the Glassboro Water and Sewer Department for their acts of heroism taken place on February 12th, 2026, at a house fire in the Borough.

On that day, Climonte Suggs and Zenias Argenio were conducting routine fire hydrant inspections, when they noticed smoke and flames coming from a residence on Franklin Rd. The two quickly proceeded to the residence where they witnessed one person jumping from a window, and one more person reportedly trapped inside of the residence. The two men forced entry through the front door, and successfully located and removed the trapped resident from the home, while smoke and fire conditions rapidly increased. With their swift response and acts of bravery, we are proud to report that the residents are still alive today.

Members of the department also presented Business Administrator Ed Malandro a plaque for his support to our department over the years. Mr. Malandro has supported the department by increasing staffing, apparatus replacement, capital improvement projects, and several other things for the department throughout the past years.

Jim has been a huge asset to our department, along with several other departments and organizations over the last four decades. Jim’s knowledge and presence will be greatly missed throughout the community on emergency incidents and around the firehouse.

We wish Jim all of the best in his future endeavors.
