We were honored to have U.S. Representative Jim Himes join us for a regional roundtable on domestic violence. The Congressman, CCADV CEO Meghan Scanlon, and leaders from our 5 member organizations within Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District joined together to discuss prominent federal issues impacting local domestic services. Funding cuts, proposed rules, and other federal policy decisions threaten the work of domestic violence prevention nationwide. We are grateful for the support of all our legislators who advocate for us in D.C.

We are grateful to our continued partnership with Hartford Athletic with this opportunity! This season's goalkeeper jersey highlights Hartford Athletic's commitment to preventing domestic violence, featuring the CCADV logo and four stripes, with one highlighted to represent the fact that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.

Over the past year, CCADV has also been working with Hartford Athletic to deliver Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM) programming to youth teams. These sessions equip young men with the skills to build healthy relationships and model respect, strengthening positive behaviors both on and off the field.

This year’s Family Violence Prevention and Services Act ( ) funding should have begun on October 1, 2025. Some of the FY26 funding notices were finally released more than four months late, but domestic violence shelters and programs will still have to wait another 6-9 months to receive funding. Continued delays in FVPSA and OVW funding will force programs to lay off staff, reduce services, and close their doors, leaving survivors with nowhere to go, including here in CT.

Contact your Representative or Senator to push HHS to publish all delayed NOFOs and expedite the release of congressionally appropriated funds. Survivors can’t wait.

CCADV condemns the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) killings of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo last week in Texas, Joan Sebastian Guerrero this week in Maine, and at least nine other people who have been fatally shot by immigration officials in the past two years.

No family should have to endure this kind of unimaginable loss. No community should have to accept this ongoing pattern of state-sponsored violence. CCADV is in solidarity with our immigration partners and with communities across the country in mourning these deaths and demanding change.

CCADV will be attending the vigil of Anastasia Paul organized by her family and Vivan Las Autonomas this Friday, July 17 at 5pm at Vernon City Hall, 14 Park Place. Three years after Anastasia Paul's death, we honor her memory by recommitting to a safer Connecticut for all survivors. All are encouraged to attend.

This vigil is also ahead of the sentencing of Abdul Mboob, who killed Anastasia in 2023. Anastasia's family is gathering community members to honor her memory, support those seeking justice in her name, and raise awareness about the devastating impacts of domestic violence on Tuesday, July 28 at 2:00 p.m. (gathering starting at 1:30 p.m.) at Rockville Superior Court in Vernon, CT. All are welcome to join CCADV and Anastasia's loved ones in solidarity.

On the day of sentencing, Anastasia's family is gathering community members to honor her memory, support those seeking justice in her name, and raise awareness about the devastating impacts of domestic violence.

📣ACTION ALERT!📣HUD is proposing to rollback protections granted under the Equal Access Rule, a policy that currently helps ensure people cannot be denied access to many HUD-funded housing and shelter programs based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status.

For survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, housing is often one of the most urgent needs. LGBTQIA+ survivors already face significant barriers to safety and stability. This proposal would make those barriers even greater.
