The animal care staff caught Tuckahoe the sheep and Todd the turkey meeting yesterday at the fenceline! All the animals at the farm are accustomed to the sights and sounds of one another, and visiting wild species from the surrounding woods.

Emily, the Jersey cow, turned 10 years old yesterday!! Happy Birthday!!

Emily is a gentle giant who is always curious about what is going on around her. She is eager to earn treats during training sessions and enjoys back scratches from the animal care team.

During the heat of the summer, you can often find Emily and her pasture mate, Marigold, resting in the shade.

A Henrico Fourth: Crump Park has been cancelled due to the extreme heat and increasing potential for evening storms. The decision is made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of guests, performers, vendors, staff and others.

The next time you visit the chickens you may notice two of them wearing "boots." Animal care staff recently brought the two hens to the vet to treat some irritated spots on the underside of their feet. These temporary boots will keep the pressure of their sole and speed up the healing process. Other chickens are recieving a medicated soaks in the morning to ensure their feet remain healthy as well.

You may notice some new blue ear tags on Emily & Marigold! The girls have new fly ear tags that will keep flies out of their eyes, nose, and mouth throughout the summer.
