As hate incidents and religious tensions rise, everyone should feel safe attending services and practicing their faith. The budget establishes buffer zones around houses of worship and other religious gathering spaces to protect congregants while preserving the right to lawful and peaceful protest.

Thank you to all who participated in a very informative seminar at Farmingdale State College for small business owners to prepare for unannounced visits by immigration enforcement officials (ICE). A special shout-out to the Long Island Hispanic Bar, along with Governor Kathy Hochul, New York State Office for New Americans, and Fundacion Hispanoamericana, Inc., for working together to coordinate this important event.

Today marks 82 years since the turning point in the Second World War. On that historic day, the largest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare took place as Allied forces stormed the northern coast of Nazi-occupied France. We honor all who participated in this, and all the battles fought in that terrible war in defense of democracy.

Today I joined my colleagues in the Assembly to pass "Kyra's Law" - named in memory of two-year-old Kyra Franchetti, who lost her life at the hands of her abusive father. After years of advocacy by her mother, this bill will help protect those most precious to us by directing that judicial decisions regarding custody and access to children promote the safety of children as a threshold matter.
