In preparation for the Glen Ellyn Fireworks this weekend, the Village of Glen Ellyn - Government will begin setup of temporary no parking and one-way signs. These will be posted in the area of the Glen Ellyn Park District Freedom Four race route and Lake Ellyn Park.
🇺🇸 Temporary parking and one-way restrictions in these areas are only enforced on September 6th.
🇺🇸 Temporary road closures and detours will be in place starting at 6am on September 6th.

🛑Watch for stopped school buses! Slow down for flashing yellow and STOP for red flashing lights.

🚸Help out our wonderful crossing guards by slowing down and following their directions.

Drive Sober. Buckle Up. Arrive Alive.

From August 14 through September 8, the Glen Ellyn Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across Illinois in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Drive High. Get a DUI," and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.

Officers will conduct additional enforcement focused on impaired driving, seat belt compliance, and other dangerous driving behaviors throughout the Labor Day season.

Before celebrating, make a plan:

• Designate a sober driver
• Use a rideshare or taxi
• Buckle up—every seat, every trip
• Never drive impaired

This local effort is part of a larger statewide campaign supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation, which administers the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns with federal highway safety funds. The initiative is reinforced by IDOT’s “It’s Not a Game” media campaign running across radio, TV and digital platforms to highlight the deadly consequences of impaired driving.

Thank you to everyone who made this year's National Night Out such a memorable evening!

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible community partners, the Glen Ellyn Park District, and the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company for helping make this event a success. Most importantly, thank you to our amazing community for coming out and celebrating with us. It was wonderful to see so many families, friends, and neighbors enjoying an evening of fun together.

We're also proud to share that, thanks to your generosity, we raised nearly $482 for Special Olympics Illinois in just an hour and a half! Every dollar donated will go directly toward supporting the athletes and the life-changing opportunities the organization provides.

Thank you again for your continued support and for making National Night Out such a special tradition. We can't wait to see everyone again next year on the first Tuesday in August for another fantastic evening together!

🚨 Speed Awareness Campaign Results

Throughout the month of July, the Glen Ellyn Police Department participated in a statewide traffic safety campaign reminding motorists to slow down and help save lives. The enforcement effort, conducted in partnership with state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois, focused on reducing dangerous driving behaviors and preventing serious crashes.

During the campaign, Glen Ellyn officers issued or made:

• 136 speeding citations
• 2 child car seat citations
• 11 DUI arrests
• 3 felony arrests
• 9 misdemeanor arrests
• 4 fugitives apprehended
• 19 suspended/revoked license citations
• 28 uninsured motorist citations
• 2 drug arrests

Speed limits exist to protect everyone on the road. Excessive speed reduces reaction time, increases stopping distance, and significantly raises the risk of serious injury or death in a crash.

Thank you to the many drivers who made safe and responsible choices. The Glen Ellyn Police Department remains committed to proactive traffic enforcement and keeping our community's roadways safe.

The speed enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Join us at Lake Ellyn Park from 5:00–7:00 p.m. for National Night Out — an evening of fun and community! Meet your neighbors, connect with members of the Glen Ellyn Police Department, Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company, Public Works, and Glen Ellyn Park District, all while building a stronger community together.

There's something for everyone: face painting, craft tables, a temporary tattoo station, slides, games and activities, K9 Bear, touch-a-truck, DJ Damian, treats from Andy's Custard and Heavenly Hot Dogs, and much more!

🎯 Dunk Tank Fundraiser — Don't miss our dunk tank benefiting the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois! Donations will be accepted, and each donation gives you the chance to take your best shot at dunking Officer Alisson and Firefighter Murray. Come out, have some fun, and help us support a great cause.
