Huge news! Westfield Elementary has been accredited as a Level I Arboretum by the Morton Arboretum! 🌳 🌳
This status honors the eight-year commitment of students, staff, and Westfield LMC director Karl Mennecke to plant 30 trees and hold events to support trees.

Westfield is one of only 39 Level I accredited arboretums in the state and one of only two Illinois elementary schools to earn this designation! Congrats, Wildcats and Mr. Mennecke!

The students were divided into the British soldiers (gray PE shirts) and Americans (blue PE shirts). The students learned how the Americans overcame long odds by adjusting their tactics during the war. Watch this video to learn more:

There were so many fun things happening at the end of the year, we didn't get a chance to post them all! We hope you'll enjoy as we share some highlights in the next few days. First up: In May, the Glen Crest skills class hosted the first-ever "Hungry Spartan Cafe". Students greeted guests who had made reservations, led people to their seats, took orders, made food, served the meal, and checked people out. The customers gave the service and food five out of five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
