I strongly condemn the actions of the men who attempted to blackmail a fellow Glen Ellyn resident into withdrawing her candidacy for Village Trustee. I hope they receive the punishment they deserve. And I hope that this egregious action doesn't dissuade other residents from running for office. This kind of despicable behavior doesn't belong in Glen Ellyn—or anywhere.

The League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn was alerted to an incident of one of the candidates running for Village Trustee being intimidated by a village resident to withdraw their name from consideration at the upcoming town meeting.   This behavior is unacceptable and has no place

With the hot temperatures expected this week, don't forget about the heat impacts to pets. Animals can die of heatstroke within 15 minutes, and cracking the car windows doesn’t help. NEVER leave your pets in parked vehicles. weather.gov/safety/heat-children-pets

Tonight’s regular Monday drill was dedicated to a special time-honored tradition in the fire service: the badge pinning ceremony.

Firefighting has a rich history which is reflected in the firefighter badge. Pinning is a proud tradition within fire departments, signifying the introduction of members to their new duties.

We gathered at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center and continued that tradition by pinning badges on (from left, front row) FFs Andy, Mike, Jeff, Drew and Kevin, and (from left, back row in blue) Trajan, Dan and Chris.

And we welcomed two current members to our officer ranks by promoting FFs Russ and Patrick to the rank of Lieutenant (L to R in white shirts).

Congratulations everyone. We’re incredibly proud of all that you’ve accomplished and are looking forward to what you do next. See you on the next call.
