The Village of Glen Ellyn has named Brett Kryska as its new Deputy Village Manager, bringing an experienced municipal leader to the Village as it embarks on a new strategic plan and several major initiatives in the years ahead.
Kryska will begin his new role August 31, bringing nearly 18 years of local government experience to Glen Ellyn. He most recently served as Village Manager for the Village of Schiller Park, where he oversaw a broad range of municipal operations, including police, fire, public works, community development, and parks and recreation. Prior to joining Schiller Park, he spent more than 12 years with the Village of Grayslake.
“Brett brings the kind of well-rounded municipal experience that will make an immediate impact,” said Village Manager Mark Franz. “He understands both the day-to-day work of municipal government and the long-term planning necessary to move us forward as a community. That perspective will be especially valuable as we develop a new strategic plan and prepare for upcoming projects.”
As Deputy Village Manager, Kryska will work closely with all Village departments while advancing the goals and priorities established by the Board. His background includes economic development, financial planning, organizational planning, and municipal operations.
“I am excited to join an experienced team and become part of a great community like Glen Ellyn,” Kryska said. “I look forward to working closely with staff and the Board to execute Glen Ellyn strategic initiatives and continue delivering exceptional service to residents.”
Kryska holds a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in management and leadership and a Bachelor of Science in political science from Northern Illinois University. He is also an International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Credentialed Manager.
