At approximately 4:52 yesterday evening Glen Lyn Rescue units received a call for an atv rollover at the Kiros Atv Resort. Upon arrival at the scene of the accident, rescue units determined one patient needed immediate transport. At which time Life-Guard 10 was requested for assistance and Fire units were dispatched for a Landing zone. Upon further examination of the second patient, it was determined the need for immediate transport was also apparent. At which time Life-Guard 11 was dispatched for assistance and Rich Creek Fire Department was dispatched for the second landing zone. After a lengthy extraction and stabilization, around 8:30 Life-Guard 10 lifted with the first patient. At approximately 9:30 Life-Guard 11 lifted with the second patient. All units cleared around 10:15 without incident.

Today members participated in H.E.A.T. Training (Helicopter Emergency Accident Training). The propose of this training is to streamline any accident involving one of the Life-guard Helicopters. Crews practiced on extraction of victims out of the helicopter and the patient care following.

We’d like to thank Narrows FD for the invite and Life-Guard for allowing both departments sharpen the skills needed in case of an emergency!

At approximately 8:45 Rescue units received a dispatch for a male subject possibly having a stroke. After determining the severity of the call, Carilion LifeGuard was requested for an expedited transport to definitive care. Glen Lyn Fire Rescue fire units also were dispatched in request for a landing zone.
