City of Glen Rose,Tx Glen Rose is best known as the “Dinosaur Capital of Texas,” but is much more than that. Glen Rose has been a popular tourist destination for decades.

Glen Rose is best known as the “Dinosaur Capital of Texas,” but is much more than that. Glen Rose has been a popular tourist destination since the early 1900s. In addition to the beautiful scenery, rolling hills and rivers, the Glen Rose area had hundreds of natural springs. Water flowed from the springs and were heavily laden with minerals and believed to have healing powers. Glen Rose is still a popular tourist destination with the rolling hills and rivers, but we have added several family attractions over the years including Dinosaur Valley State Park, Dinosaur World and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, just to name a few. Also, be sure and visit our Historic Courthouse Square. Home to quaint shops, restaurants and lodging, it provides a the feel of a nostalgic feel, that few towns can still claim. As for those hills and rivers that first put Glen Rose on the map, they are still here. In additional to the natural beauty, visitors will find opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, kayaking, canoeing or just kicking back and enjoying a sunset.

Mission: The purpose of this site is to promote local business, events, and tourism.

We continue to monitor the potential for strong to marginally severe storms developing this afternoon/evening across North TX. The approx. timing for stronger storms is around 3-6 PM. Stay weather aware, especially if you have outdoor plans! Even if a thunderstorm isn't severe, lightning, gusty winds, and small hail will be a hazard for anyone outdoors!

Weather is looking wonderful for 4'th July in the dinosaur capital of Texas !

We're tracking a disturbance that could bring us a few showers and storms today...mainly during the afternoon hours and across our far eastern counties. If a storm develops, it could present a wind threat and produce lots of rain and lightning!
A few more storms will be possible tomorrow, as we close out June. The first week of July will feature the low 90s!

Unsettled weather will continue over the next few days! Today and Sunday will be partly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few strong to marginally severe storms will be possible with gusty winds and hail. There will be slight chances for showers and thunderstorms across parts of the region each day.

An early look at the Independence Day Forecast... Morning temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s and warm into the upper 80s and low 90s in the afternoon. There will be chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms... but most activity should diminish with the loss of daytime heating. Lighting and gusty winds will pose a threat to those who are attending outdoor festivities. If you have outdoor plans, continue to monitor the forecast!

UPDATE on OAKDALE PARK:

Oakdale Park is open. As many of you are aware Oakdale Park had an extreme amount of damage during the most recent storm. We have lost MANY trees, limbs, damage to buildings, cabins, electric lines, and poles were down, etc.

Dry camping is currently available. All of the RV spots are fully functional. We do have several cabins that are still without power, however, we do have a few cabins that are still fully functioning.

While we have been diligently working to restore the park to its original beauty...it will take quite some time to achieve. We do still have downed trees and trees laying on buildings and across fences. The roads inside the park ARE drivable.

The Pool is closed. We will re-evaluate the pool on a daily and will notify the public when it is Open.

Scattered thunderstorms may redevelop across parts of the area today, mainly near and west of I-35. The greatest storm chances will be during the afternoon. While widespread severe weather isn't expected, a couple of storms could become strong and pose an isolated severe weather threat for winds and hail.

Happy Wednesday! What a beautiful sunrise... here's our view this morning! Temperatures in the low 60s @ 6:20 am. Let's enjoy them while we can!

For the rest of the day... the showers & storms across the northwest should weaken as they move southeast, but will be capable of gusty winds, brief heavy rainfall & lightning. This activity should dissipate this afternoon, leaving a mostly sunny sky. Afternoon highs will warm into the 80s.
