🍂 Gather Around the Table at SCCOA! 🍂

Fall is in the air, and there’s no better time to enjoy a good meal and the company of friends! ❤️ Our menu for October 12–16 is filled with comforting favorites, including pork loin with baby bakers, Chicken Philly sandwiches, rosemary chicken, stuffed pepper casserole, and our Friday fish fry.

At the Somervell County Committee on Aging, lunch is about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about friendship, laughter, connection, and making sure everyone in our community has a place to belong.

Come join us for lunch Monday through Friday at noon! Whether you’re a regular visitor or have never joined us before, you are always welcome at our table. Bring a friend, meet a neighbor, and enjoy a little fellowship with your meal. 🍁

🪵 Comanche Peak Tri-County Wood Carvers: Come Carve With Us!

There’s something special about working with your hands—taking a simple piece of wood and turning it into something beautiful, useful, or completely your own.

The Comanche Peak Tri-County Wood Carvers is a group of local woodcarvers who love sharing the craft and welcoming others into the world of wood carving.

And you don’t have to be an experienced woodcarver to join us!

Whether you’ve been carving for years, you’re curious about learning, or you simply want to stop by and see what everyone is working on, you are welcome.

🪵 Come Learn. Come Create. Come Watch.
The group is always looking for people who want to learn more about wood carving and enjoy spending time with others who share an appreciation for the craft.

You can:
🔹 Learn the basics of wood carving
🔹 Get an introduction to carving techniques
🔹 Work alongside experienced local carvers
🔹 Bring your own project and work on it
🔹 Meet new people and enjoy some fellowship
🔹 Or simply sit down, watch, and see what they do!

There’s no pressure to pick up a carving knife on your first visit. Sometimes the best way to start is simply by pulling up a chair and watching.

October is here, and we’re enjoying the simple things that make this season special—good food, familiar faces, and time spent together around the table. This week’s menu brings a few comforting favorites, from Chicken Alfredo and cheeseburgers to pork tips with gravy, meatloaf, and tacos al pastor. There’s a little something for everyone!
