🌊 Pushaw Lake Update
The Glenburn Fire Department, in coordination with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, is aware of an oil spill on Pushaw Lake near Lakeside Landing.
The department first became aware of the incident through social media. Maine DEP has performed a site evaluation of the spill.
Environmental spills can be complex, particularly during winter conditions with freezing temperatures, ice, and snowfall.
Pushaw Lake is an important natural resource for our community. Incidents like this serve as a reminder that early notification of spills or environmental concerns helps support timely response efforts and protection of:
• Water quality
• Wildlife and shoreline
• Recreational access
⚠️ If you observe a spill or environmental hazard, please report it promptly.

🇺🇸 Remembering September 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, 8 paramedics, and thousands of innocent civilians never made it home that day. Their courage, sacrifice, and resilience will never be forgotten.

For the fire service, 9/11 is a reminder of why we put on this uniform — to serve, protect, and answer the call, no matter the risk. We stand proud in their memory and carry forward their legacy of bravery and selflessness.

We ask our community to take a moment today to reflect, remember, and unite. May we never forget

Sheriff's Office investigates Glenburn Shooting.

On Monday, June 9, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM, the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received reports of a disorderly incident occurring on McCarty Road in Glenburn. Subsequent investigation revealed that one individual had sustained a gunshot wound, while another person suffered minor injuries during the incident. The suspect involved in the shooting fled the scene.

In response, the Sheriff’s Office deployed appropriate resources to secure two separate locations connected to the incident. Initial assessments indicated that the suspect was known and that this was likely an isolated event involving familiar parties.

An expanded search for the individual is ongoing, and resources have been deployed to assist with that search.
Portions of the McCarty Road will be blocked off for some time, and motorists are asked to use caution on Route 15 near McCarty in Glenburn, as many law enforcement units are in the area.
Specific information will be released when appropriate.

🔥Special Weather Statement for Elevated Fire Danger for the Greater Bangor Area (Southern Penobscot County) and all of Downeast Maine. A very dry air mass over the area and strong gusty northwest winds will combine with dead and dry fuels such as grass, leaves, and twigs to create the potential for uncontrolled fire spread across the Greater Bangor Region and Downeast Maine today. This afternoon, relative humidities will decrease to low levels between 25 to 30 percent. At the same time, winds between 15 to 25 mph with frequent gusts up to 50 mph will continue to dry fuels and increase fire spread potential. 🌬Wind Advisory continues for all of Eastern & Northern Maine through 6PM this evening. NW winds 15-30mph with gusts up to 55mph. These winds are causing isolated to scattered power outages with several reports of trees down. Grounds are softening with the thawing frost so we expect some tree damage.
