Meet our newest "employee"! Our Junior Librarian was in Friday morning, scanning and stamping books at the Circulation Desk, processing materials in Technical Services, and creating his own Staff Picks display in Children's. "Librarian for a Day" was an auction item at this year's GJK benefit. Congrats to the lucky winner! And lucky us to have such a great helper.

Can banana peels, grass clippings, and vegetable scraps enhance your home garden? They can, if turned into compost! Celebrate International Compost Awareness Week and join us in the library on Thursday, May 7, at 7pm. Join us tomorrow between 10am and 1pm for our Houseplant & Seedling Swap! Due to the forecasted low temperatures, the swap will take place in the Johnson Room on the library's ground floor. Potted plants or plant cuttings are both welcome, but please only bring containers that you are willing to part with. All are welcome to take something home (even without bringing anything) in the last hour of the swap!

This year's National Library Week theme is Find Your Joy, and this Lego model of the library's first floor renovation plan does just that! Stop by the library to see the model and read nine-year-old Ishaan's statement about what inspired him to create it and what he loves about the library. The model will be on display in the northwest corner of the Johnson Room until May 26th.

Join us tomorrow at 7pm in the Johnson Room for an evening with Leah Eskin, author of the historical novel "Like Wafers in Honey." Based on the experiences of a real Italian-Jewish cook named Edda Servi Machlin, the novel tells two stories: that of Stella, a Jewish girl from the Tuscan town of Pitigliano, who spends the winter of 1943 fleeing Fascist and N**i brutality, and that of Edda, a Westchester housewife trying to save Italian-Jewish cuisine. Each chapter includes a recipe updated for modern kitchens.

The event will be moderated by Rabbi Steven Stark Lowenstein, and books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of The Book Stall. Sweet treats from a recipe in the book baked by Leah will be served! Learn more: calendar.glencoelibrary.org/event/16205634
