Dear Team Lerna,
I'm incredibly grateful for what our campaign has accomplished. We wouldn’t have gotten this far if it wasn’t for everyone coming together. I want to start off by thanking my family, my team, my friends and my amazing supporters who have encouraged me tremendously the last few months. I also want to thank all my supporters who have knocked on doors, made calls, wrote letters of support, donated and voted. Lastly, a big thanks to every organization, educator and community leader who believed in our movement and endorsed our grassroots campaign.
Our victory is what we have accomplished together. We were able to build a grassroots campaign supported and endorsed by LOCAL education leaders, politicians, and community partners. We were able to build a coalition of students, parents, educators, and community leaders who fought with so much heart to win. We were able to empower our parents and students to be part of the change they wish to see in this world. Although we did not win, I take immense pride in how close we came.
For over a decade, I have had the privilege of serving our school community and tomorrow will be no different. I am proud that this campaign gave the community a voice and I will continue advocating for our students, parents and educators because they deserve no less.
