๐Ÿ’œ Month of the Military Child ๐Ÿ’œ

This past weekend, the 944th Fighter Wing hosted Operation Reserve Kids 2026, bringing together Reserve Airmen and their families to give military children a hands-on look at a day in the life of their parentsโ€™ service.

From receiving a mission brief and taking part in a mock swear-in to walking through a simulated pre-deployment line, these children stepped into the mission.

Along the way, they operated an explosive ordnance disposal robot, designed their own patches, watched a drone and military working dog demonstration and experienced mail call.

Children also participated in paintball, tackled an obstacle course and toured an F-35 Lightning II, where they tried on pilot gear and watched a weapons load demonstration before being welcomed home from their mission!

This Month of the Military Child, we celebrate the strength, adaptability and heart of the children who serve right alongside their parents, no matter the distance. ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

A huge thank you to the 944th MF&R and Booster Club, NSDAR Turquoise Gems, Youth for Troops and Luke AFB Supporting Agencies for making this event happen!

From Apollo to Artemis ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒ•

As the world celebrates the successful return of Artemis II astronauts, the 944th Fighter Wing reflects on a legacy that helped make moments like this possible.

In November 1969, Reserve Airmen from the 944th Military Airlift Group, todayโ€™s 944th Fighter Wing, transported Apollo 12 lunar samples from Pago Pago to Ellington AFB, delivering priceless pieces of the moon to NASA for study in less than 20 hours.

More than five decades later, that same spirit of readiness, precision, and mission ex*****on continues, linking yesterdayโ€™s lunar milestones to todayโ€™s next giant leap.

Forging Combat Airmenโ€ฆ supporting missions that reach beyond the horizon.

What keeps Airmen serving? We asked.

The 944th Fighter Wing command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Wesley Peel, created space for open conversation about Reserve service, career development, and the challenges of balancing military commitments with civilian life during F-35 Lightning II training operations in Gila Bend, Ariz.

Because behind every mission-ready Airman is a story, a balance, and a decision to keep showing up.

Thatโ€™s the Reserve Advantage: depth, experience, and Airmen who choose to serve.
