Keeping bicyclists safe is a shared responsibility 🚲

With more people riding for commuting, school, and recreation, the Glendale Police Department reminds everyone to stay alert and share the road.

“Bicyclists do not have the same protections as drivers. We encourage everyone to look out for one another and practice safe habits so we may all go safely.” – Lt. Pete Robinson

In 2024, 1,103 bicyclists were killed in traffic crashes across the U.S.

Share the road safely:
• Slow down and watch for bicyclists
• Give at least 3 feet when passing
• Ride with traffic and yield to pedestrians
• Use lights and wear a helmet
• Never drive or ride distracted or impaired

May is National Bicycle Safety Month—a reminder that these habits matter year-round!

It’s Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. With warmer weather, more riders are on the road—so we’re reminding everyone to look twice and share the road. 🏍️

“Most crashes happen when drivers simply don’t see motorcycles. Taking a few extra seconds can prevent a tragedy.” – Lt. Pete Robinson

In 2024, 6,228 motorcyclists were killed in traffic crashes across the U.S.

Stay safe:
• Check mirrors & blind spots
• Keep a safe distance
• Ride & drive defensively
• Stay visible & wear proper gear
• Never drive or ride distracted or impaired

Riders can contact the Glendale Police Department for “Ride to Live” training opportunities. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe!
