Sweetwater School

Sweetwater School is home to a diverse student population in kindergarten through eighth grade with approximately 500 students enrolled.

We have general education classes and self-contained special education classes. Sweetwater provides gifted services, art, music, physical education and optional before-/after-school child care for all grade levels. Sweetwater is a Leader In Me school, inspiring greatness, one child at a time. We believe that all students can be leaders in their personal lives. Staff model and teach The 7 Habits of

Highly Effective People, by Dr. Steven R. Covey, helping each child discover his or her strengths to develop his or her individual leadership potential.

Here is a glimpse of the incredible learning and growth happening across our classrooms:

Expressing Every Voice: In Mrs. Smith-Hill's room, students used functional language models on AAC devices to talk about ordering, preparing, and describing food, proving that everyone has a voice and a seat at the table.

Synergy in Action: Ms. Stallman's 7th-grade Leadership class paid a visit to Ms. Doster's 1st-grade classroom. Seeing our older students mentor and encourage our younger learners is true Synergy at work!

Putting First Things First & Being Proactive: Students in Mrs. Hughes’ 1st-grade room were proactively taking charge of their learning, Putting First Things First as they practiced their reading skills during literacy centers.

When we Begin with the End in Mind, moments like these show just how bright our students' futures are. Keep Leading the way, Mustangs!

Leaders at Work at Sweetwater!
Our students are taking charge of their learning and practicing key Leader in Me habits:
Mrs. Young’s Class: Synergizing (Habit 6) to master their geography Social Studies vocabulary. Ms. Doster’s Class: Putting First Things First (Habit 3) by practicing their word families to build strong reading skills. Mrs. Hill-Smith’s Class: Beginning with the End in Mind (Habit 2) as they set goals and work in learning centers. Safety Leaders: Everyone was Being Proactive (Habit 1) by staying prepared during a smooth, focused fire drill!

Recently, we held our annual Leader In Me Kick-Off assemblies. Sweetwater Middle School Choir started our assemblies with the National Anthem.
Then, our leaders participated with Mr. Kester in the 7 Habits dance. Ms. McMacken and Mrs. Corrales shared students' favorite Habits and how they use them. We look forward to seeing all our leaders demonstrate their Habits this year!

What a fantastic first day back with our Sweetwater Leaders!
It was incredible seeing so many familiar faces return to campus, alongside welcoming a whole new group of students to our community. The energy today was bright, welcoming, and full of excitement.
We are so proud of how our Leaders stepped up today, and we're looking forward to an amazing, growth-filled school year ahead. Welcome back, Sweetwater!

Welcome Back, Sweetwater Teachers!

The halls are buzzing, classrooms are coming to life, and the Sweetwater Elementary team is back and ready for an incredible school year!

We kicked off our return with a powerful and inspiring Professional Development session featuring Molly Kennedy! Her message left our team energized, motivated, and ready to make a positive impact for our students and each other.

A HUGE shoutout and heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing Sweetwater Parent Lighthouse team for sponsoring a delicious breakfast and snacks for our staff! Your generosity keeps us fueled and feeling loved.

Our teachers are hard at work growing, learning new strategies, prepping classrooms, organizing supplies, and finalizing lesson plans. Most of all, we are counting down the days until our students arrive—we can't wait to see those smiling faces back on campus!

☀️ Sweetwater Campus Summer Updates! 🏫✨

The halls may have been quiet, but our campus has been a hub of activity this summer! We’ve been busy working behind the scenes to get everything shining and ready for our students' return.

Here is a quick look at what’s new and some incredibly important thank-yous we want to share:

🎨 Fresh Look, Fresh Start

Our campus received a major facelift over the break! Walking through the halls, you'll notice:

* Brand-new carpeting throughout key learning areas.
* A vibrant, fresh coat of paint to brighten up our classrooms and hallways.

A Massive Thank You to Our Voters! 🗳️ These beautiful upgrades are made possible directly because of your continued support. Thank you for approving the previous bonds and overrides that allow us to keep our facilities safe and beautiful for our students.

🎖️ Spotlight on Service: Moon Valley High School NJROTC

We also want to extend a huge, heartfelt shoutout to the incredible cadets of the Moon Valley High School NJROTC!

These dedicated students stepped up multiple times this summer to assist hands-on with our campus beautification projects. Whether they were lifting, organizing, or putting the finishing touches on our outdoor spaces, their work ethic was inspiring.

* To the Cadets: Your help, energy, and dedication this summer were absolutely invaluable. Thank you for showing up for our community and leading by example! 👏

A New School Year is Coming Soon, Sweetwater Mustangs! 🐴

The countdown to an amazing 2026-2027 school year is officially on! We hope you’ve had a wonderful, relaxing summer break. We cannot wait to fill our hallways with energy, leadership, and a passion for learning very soon.

This year, we are excited to continue our journey as a Leader in Me school, helping every single student discover the leader within themselves. As we prepare to start this new year strong, let’s Be Proactive and plan ahead!

Front Office Reopening: Our front office team is ready to welcome you! We will officially open for the season on Thursday, July 23, at 7:30 AM. Whether you need to drop off paperwork or just want to say a quick hello, we’ll be ready to support you.

School Supply Lists: We want to help our Mustangs Synergize and prepare for a successful year. Suggested supply lists will be emailed directly to parents from Principal Smith.
