Join us tomorrow (Friday, July 15th) at 1:00 PM for a showing of Parallel Mothers

Two single women meet in a hospital room where they are both going to give birth. One is middle aged and doesn't regret it, while the other is adolescent and scared. The two women form a strong bond with one another as they both confront motherhood.
We need a place for North Shore residents to connect, share ideas, learn, read and collaborate. The campaign for a new North Shore Library will provide just that, for years to come. Learn about endangered species with an illustrated storybook with live animal meet-and-greets to take participants on a cross-disciplinary journey through the sea. Registration is not required. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket if you have one!
In the case of storms or heavy rain, the show will be moved to the North Shore Library Community Room, with a limit of 35 attendees (first come, first serve). If weather requires a move to the library, the announcement will be made on the library’s website.

Join us next Monday July 11th at 6:00p.m. for a presentation about America’s Hidden Family: Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings.
Presenter Richard Kane will explain how the Jefferson-Hemings relationship began and how efforts were made to keep it hidden. He’ll uncover the DNA and other circumstantial evidence supporting the existence of the relationship, and how attempts were made to expose the relationship that historians chose to ignore. Kane will also address the controversy of how Jefferson, who wrote that all men are created equal, could justify his ownership of slaves.

For nearly two centuries, historians refused to believe that Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings had a relationship in which Jefferson fathered Sally’s children. DNA testing in the 1990s and strong circumstantial evidence changed that belief. Presenter Richard Kane will explain how the Jefferson-Hemings relationship began and how efforts were made to keep it hidden.

The North Shore Library was founded as the Fox Point-Bayside Library in 1979 in 5,000 square feet of leased space in the Stormonth School in Fox Point and has grown and moved since then and now also serves Glendale and River Hills.
