Earlier today, Ironwood hosted a College Fair on our campus. We had over 30 institutions represented, including our local favorites of MCC and instate, but also schools from Texas, New Mexico, Washington, Utah. It was a great opportunity for our students to talk to the different institutions! Thank you Mrs. Padia and Ms. Schmitz for putting together an exceptional opportunity for our students.

Samantha became an educator because she is passionate about helping students discover the many opportunities available to them beyond high school. Whether students pursue college, a career, military service, or another path, she believes education can open doors and empower them to achieve their goals.

Now entering her 8th year in education, Samantha is excited to bring her passion for science and student success to the Ironwood community. This year, she is especially looking forward to getting to know the unique culture of Ironwood High School and building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families.

Please join us in welcoming Makenzie Oberg as our new Special Education Teacher at Ironwood High School!

For Makenzie, school has always been more than just a place to learn—it was a second home. From fifth grade through her time at Northern Arizona University, she was inspired by teachers who believed in her, challenged her, and made her feel seen. Those meaningful relationships inspired her to become an educator so she could create the same supportive environment for her own students.

Makenzie believes every student is capable of achieving great things, and sometimes all it takes is having someone in their corner who believes in them. She is passionate about building strong connections, encouraging students to reach their goals, and helping them recognize their own potential.

This is Makenzie's first year teaching in the Peoria Unified School District. Before joining Ironwood, she spent two years as a part-time paraprofessional in Flagstaff Unified School District, where working with K-12 students helped her discover her passion for special education and confirmed that teaching was exactly where she was meant to be.

🦅 🏀🦅 Welcome to Ironwood High School, Ernie Lopez! 🦅🏀

Please join us in welcoming Ernie Lopez as our new Social Studies Teacher at Ironwood High School!

Ernie originally entered education with the goal of becoming a basketball coach, but over the past 10 years he has discovered a true passion for teaching social studies and serving students through education. As he begins his 11th year in the classroom, he is excited to continue making a positive impact both inside and outside of school.

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ernie moved to the Phoenix area in 2018 and is proud to now call Arizona home. This year, Ernie is especially excited to join the Ironwood basketball coaching staff and serve the Ironwood community both in the classroom and on the court.

Please help us give Ernie a warm Eagle welcome! We're excited to have his passion for education, coaching, and community as part of the Ironwood family.
