This morning we celebrated the 106th anniversary of Iglesia Bautista Hispana de Glendale.

This congregation began in 1920 as the Hispanic Baptist Church of Arizona. Then in 1923, they constructed their first church building.

This congregation has demonstrated a deep commitment to our city by promoting neighborly good will, supporting families, as well as fostering spiritual growth.

Last night, I had the opportunity to attend Honeywell Aerospace Technologies Investor Day. During the event, Honeywell announced that, beginning June 29, the company will operate under two distinct brands: Honeywell Technologies and Honeywell Aerospace.

What an incredible story!

Just two days after Christmas, this remarkable young woman found herself in the right place at the right time. While driving by a home, she saw family members rushing a toddler into the front yard after calling 911. The child had fallen into a pool and was unresponsive.

As a trained medical professional, she immediately pulled over; with her own baby in the car, and began CPR while waiting for first responders to arrive. Because of her quick thinking and willingness to act, the toddler survived and made a full recovery.

Today, I officially proclaimed this week as CPR & AED Awareness Week, and I could think of no one more deserving to receive this proclamation than this local hero.

Thank you for stepping up to help a fellow citizen when every second mattered. And thank you to the Glendale Fire Department for your rapid response and lifesaving care.

This morning, we broke ground on the future home of Maricopa County Animal Care & Control’s West Valley facility near Northern Avenue and Loop 101. The new facility will feature more than 600 kennels and 18 play yards, helping even more pets find loving homes and reunite with their families. I’m grateful Maricopa County chose Glendale for this important project and look forward to its completion.
