We are sad to announce the passing of Captain James Dandoy (retired) from the Glendale Police Department - Wisconsin.

Captain Dandoy started his law enforcement career with our department in January 1969. Captain Dandoy worked as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Detective Lieutenant, and retired as a Captain in January 2001.

Jim's reputation as a skilled detective & court-recognized fingerprint expert led detectives from surrounding agencies to seek his advice in fingerprint match confirmations. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Milwaukee Co Drug Task Force.

Our thoughts are with Jim’s family and friends.

Today we extend a heartfelt goodbye to Officer Kelly DeJonge on her last day with the Glendale Police Department. Over her 21 years with the department, "Officer Kelly" has served as a Field Training Officer, Community Outreach Officer, Public Information Officer and most significantly the Department's School Resource Officer for over 10 years. During that time she has made an immeasurable impact on the lives of countless kids throughout Glendale.

Kelly, good luck in your future endeavors and Godspeed. You will be greatly missed.

Today, Officer Wilson and Officer Byrnes were presented with an Award of Valor, while Officer Poetzl, Officer Rosquist and Officer Ruppel were presented with a Life Saving Award for their actions taken while responding to an active fire.

On January 5th, 2021 at approximately 4:45pm, Officers were dispatched to a fire at a three-story assisted living facility. Officers encountered heavy smoke and visibility of less than 2-feet on the second floor of the building. Officers confirmed which apartment was the source of the smoke and could hear the 68-year-old resident yelling for help, but he was unable to exit the apartment due to the excessive smoke inside. Officers discharged a fire extinguisher in an attempt to combat the unknown origin of the fire in the apartment. Officer Wilson and Officer Byrnes created a human chain to enter the room with Officer Byrnes holding the door frame and Officer Wilson’s belt. Officer Wilson located the man inside of the first corner and was able to pull him out of the apartment.

Meanwhile, Officers Poetzl, Rosquist and Ruppel began to alert the other residents of the situation while assisting in the evacuation process for those residents that were inside of the building. The actions of the officers saved lives and mitigated the damage caused by the fire which was ultimately put out by the NSFD. The actions of the officers involved reflect highly upon them and exemplify to a high degree the traditions of the law enforcement profession.

Great job to all the Officers involved!

Unfortunately, the decision to cancel our annual Shop with a Cop event was made several months ago. However, we were not going to let the 2020 health pandemic stop our officers from spreading good cheer to children in our community with the holiday spirit in mind.

Several children from Parkway School were selected by school staff members to take part in this year’s event. Each child created a gift wish list and several items from each list was purchased. The gifts were wrapped and personally delivered to the children by our officers. All of the children also received a Build-A-Bear stuffed animal from an anonymous donor.

Despite the changes we had to make this year, it was great to see so much positivity and smiles when the gifts were delivered!

We recently learned of the passing of (retired) Chief Frank Riemer Jr from the Germantown Police Department Wisconsin. Chief Riemer rose to the level of Detective with the Glendale Police Department - Wisconsin many years ago.

We thank you for your service to law enforcement, to our department, and to the citizens of our community.

It is with great sadness, that we must share with our community the passing of Frank Riemer Jr. the Germantown Police Department’s first Chief of Police.
Chief Riemer began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer with the Whitefish Bay Police Department. He then went to the Glendale Police Department where he rose to the position of Detective.
Prior to 1964, the Village of Germantown comprised about one- and one-half square miles and was located in the Town of Germantown. In response to the City of Milwaukee annexing fifteen acres in the Town of Germantown, village officials and residents decided to incorporate with the Town of Germantown, increasing the Village’s size to about 32 square miles, and a population of 5,100.
In 1965 Frank Riemer was hired as the Chief of Police of the, newly formed, Germantown Police Department. At that time, the Police Department was located at W161N11629 Church St, now The Precinct Tap & Table. Chief Riemer played a significant role in designing the new police department building currently located on Western Ave.
Chief Riemer has the distinction of serving as Chief of Police longer than any other Chief in the history of the department, having held the position for 26 years. He witnessed law enforcement, and the Village change a great deal during that time. His leadership and dedication were greatly appreciated and impacted this department long after his retirement. Chief Riemer retired in 1991.
We pray God comforts the family of Chief Riemer during this time of sadness. We are in debt to Chief Riemer, and his family, for his sacrifice, commitment and dedication to this profession, department, and community.
Thank you, Chief, we will never forget your service.
Chief Snow

It was wonderful to team up with the Cops and Kids Foundation to give away free fish tanks and supplies earlier today to the St. Francis Children's Center and Friendship Circle of Wisconsin.

The aim of handing out the fish tanks was to inspire cognitive development, spark a child’s imagination and improve their social and emotional skills during this difficult time.

**Update: They have been located in the City of Milwaukee.**

Our department is attempting to locate 2 juveniles that willingly walked away from their temporary residence in the City of Glendale, WI. The juveniles are described as a 10-year old black male and a 14-year old black female. The juveniles were last seen in the attached still photo on 11/22/20 at 4:03pm in the City of Glendale and were on their way to a friends house located in the City of Milwaukee. We have no reason to believe they are in any danger but rather have not returned home to their temporary residence as of this post.

If you have any information regarding their whereabouts, please contact the Glendale Police Department at 414-228-1753, reference Case 20-012982.

Please share their photos so that they can be reunited with family!

Have you heard of "Rental Listing Scams"? These are not new scams by any means, but rather they are cirulating around the country as scams typically do. Here is some helpful information on what to look out for.

• Lack of basic language skills – A poorly worded messaged that contains multiple grammar errors is the most common way to detect a fraudulent message.

• Vague email address - Where you’re being contacted from can also be an indicator of fraud. Have you heard of the email provider they’re using? Check that the owner’s name and email correspond to one another. An example of a fraudulent email we’ve seen is: [email protected]

• They don’t want to meet you in person – It’s not a good sign if the owner or property manager replies to your inquiry, and says that they are out of town and cannot meet you.

• They want you to provide payment right away – They might tell you that there is a lot of interest in the property, and that you need to make a direct deposit right away to their account.

• Payment options – they will also urge you to use the “same business day” option to initiate the transfer.

If you find yourself the target of a rental/vacation scam, report it to our Department or the local agency in your area, the Federal Trade Commission, as well as the website where the ad was posted. Here is a link from the FTC that summarizes that above bullet points.

With Jim's passing, I was just sick about losing touch with so many who were important to me. Is there anyone else on here from back then? I saw Tom C.
I saw this very important PSA and thought it would be useful for the Glendale PD, as well as all of the PD's in the North Shore
I am so grateful for the help you provided to someone who accidentally locked her newly adopted puppy in her car today. The officers who responded were kind and sympathetic. They turned a stressful situation into a happy one. She wasn’t from around here, and it made me proud to live in Glendale. Thank you!
Finally unwinding from the unbelievable pain and worry and complete disbelief I just endured in the past 41 hours. I have to give a special THANKS and appreciation to the GLENDALE POLICE 👮🏽‍♀️ DEPARTMENT AND THE MILWAUKEE POLICE 👮🏼‍♂️ DEPARTMENT along with the FBI for working the case with the speed and dedication and efforts that they have. The system DID NOT FAIL ME. I can honestly say they did EVERYTHING FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. They did not ignore us. They did not take it lightly. They LISTENED. THEY ACTED FAST. They took in all leads and every peace of information we fed to them and did their job so well 🙏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽🤝 I’m so greatful and thankful we got a chance to work close with them under these unforeseen circumstances and they did not lack one bit. I’m so appreciative of it because I’ve seen situations that haven’t turned out the way mine has. I’ve seen departments not take situations seriously and act as quickly as they did. I can say that I am so proud of my FELLOW OFFICERS 👮🏽‍♀️WHO WORKED IN THE FAVOR of MY FAMILY wholeheartedly and contributed EVERYTHING THEY POSSIBLY could with bringing my NIECE and my NEPHEW back to me and my family SAFELY♥️ CONGRATULATIONS THANK YOU SO MUCH♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🤝 Job WELL DONE ✔️ Also to all my prayer 🙏🏽 warriors you guys are amazing I Love you♥️. Akia 14 years old and Tristan 10 years old located SAFE💪🏽.
What is the status of the drug drop off scheduled for Oct. 24th, please?
Want to change up that uniformed look for something brighter? Does the black button up shirt arm seams get in the way of that cotton polyester single pocket blend you’ve always wanted to sport? Perhaps a leather badge backing to go with your dresses down belt apparel? Well check out our inventory below. From badges to tie clips, hat pins to merit ribbons, we got you covered. Badges also available in pink and blue if that’s your way to handle a case firsthand.
I would like to say thank you to the police officer, that helped me get my dog out of my locked car today at Trim Time Pet Center. You were so nice to us and helped me with such quickness I appreciate what you did for me and my dog today! I'm sorry but I don't remember your name. Thank you so much!
