This past weekend was another memorable one for K9 Brix and his handler PO Bechler. They attended the annual WLECHA (Wisconsin Law Enforcement Canine Handler Association) working conference in Manitowoc. The team was awarded the Meritorious Article Find and also won the patrol challenge.

The article find stems from an incident this past summer where K9 Brix was called to track a homicide suspect. While he did not find the suspect, he helped in locating a backpack that identified the suspect who was arrested the following morning.

The patrol challenge was taken on by many of the 140 dog teams that attended the conference. A person was hidden under a raised floor in a business building. K9 Brix was the most precise dog, indicating to nearly the exact square where the decoy was located.

We are proud of Brix and PO Bechler and are thankful we have such an awesome K-9 unit. Congrats Brix and Aron.

We have had some questions about the shelter-in-place alert that was sent out earlier this evening. We will try to explain this as clearly as possible and also hopefully answer all of the questions that have come up.

We use an emergency notification system developed specifically for local public safety personnel to notify the community of time sensitive information or emergencies. The system can reach millions of individuals in minutes and ensure information such as evacuation notices, missing persons, inclement weather advisories and more are quickly shared.

This system allows for the precise targeting of alerts to specific groups of people. We can target recipients based on key characteristics, most specifically geographic location. This is what was used tonight to alert those citizens who were in the area, that there was a potential public safety concern. This is a GPS based system that sends targeted alerts by location in the case of regional threats or evacuations with flexible mapping tools. It uses existing address data to send notifications to recipients within the affected area or draw a geofence boundary and automatically alert any individual who enters that area while the event is in effect.

The system does not send an alert solely based on the fact that a person RESIDES in the area. We will however, always update our social media accounts with any and all information to ensure the safety of our residents who are not in the area at the time of the alert.

We are also aware that people generally want more information about what is happening. While we completely understand this, we also have to balance keeping the public apprised of what is happening while also not jeopardizing the integrity of the investigation.

While no system is perfect, the one we have in place allows us to quickly and effectively communicate with citizens and deliver important safety information and alerts in a timely manner. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to work to provide the highest level of service to the community.

This past week, Anastasia Medvedev observed a family arrive in the parking lot of Chase Bank appearing to be having a medical emergency with their young son. Anastasia, who speaks fluent Russian, was able to translate for the family and call 911 for them. Anastasia continued to translate for the family throughout the process, including riding along in the ambulance to the hospital where she continued to assist in translating. The child was stabilized at the hospital. Anastasia’s quick actions and ability to obtain information on what occurred in a timely manner were instrumental in helping the young boy.

Ms. Medvedev’s’s selfless actions reflect highly upon her. The Glendale Police Department would like to acknowledge her willingness to go above and beyond to assist the child’s family and first responders in a stressful situation.

Please help us congratulate Officer Fernandez who was recognized with a Department Commendation Award for locating a subject who was a suspect in 11 retail theft cases, 4 of those being felony cases. Officer Fernandez recognized the suspect, coordinated other squads responding to the area and took multiple suspects into custody. This was fantastic police work by Officer Fernandez. With Jim's passing, I was just sick about losing touch with so many who were important to me. Is there anyone else on here from back then? I saw Tom C.
I saw this very important PSA and thought it would be useful for the Glendale PD, as well as all of the PD's in the North Shore
I am so grateful for the help you provided to someone who accidentally locked her newly adopted puppy in her car today. The officers who responded were kind and sympathetic. They turned a stressful situation into a happy one. She wasn’t from around here, and it made me proud to live in Glendale. Thank you!
Finally unwinding from the unbelievable pain and worry and complete disbelief I just endured in the past 41 hours. I have to give a special THANKS and appreciation to the GLENDALE POLICE 👮🏽‍♀️ DEPARTMENT AND THE MILWAUKEE POLICE 👮🏼‍♂️ DEPARTMENT along with the FBI for working the case with the speed and dedication and efforts that they have. The system DID NOT FAIL ME. I can honestly say they did EVERYTHING FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. They did not ignore us. They did not take it lightly. They LISTENED. THEY ACTED FAST. They took in all leads and every peace of information we fed to them and did their job so well 🙏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽🤝 I’m so greatful and thankful we got a chance to work close with them under these unforeseen circumstances and they did not lack one bit. I’m so appreciative of it because I’ve seen situations that haven’t turned out the way mine has. I’ve seen departments not take situations seriously and act as quickly as they did. I can say that I am so proud of my FELLOW OFFICERS 👮🏽‍♀️WHO WORKED IN THE FAVOR of MY FAMILY wholeheartedly and contributed EVERYTHING THEY POSSIBLY could with bringing my NIECE and my NEPHEW back to me and my family SAFELY♥️ CONGRATULATIONS THANK YOU SO MUCH♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🤝 Job WELL DONE ✔️ Also to all my prayer 🙏🏽 warriors you guys are amazing I Love you♥️. Akia 14 years old and Tristan 10 years old located SAFE💪🏽.
What is the status of the drug drop off scheduled for Oct. 24th, please?
Want to change up that uniformed look for something brighter? Does the black button up shirt arm seams get in the way of that cotton polyester single pocket blend you’ve always wanted to sport? Perhaps a leather badge backing to go with your dresses down belt apparel? Well check out our inventory below. From badges to tie clips, hat pins to merit ribbons, we got you covered. Badges also available in pink and blue if that’s your way to handle a case firsthand.

I would like to say thank you to the police officer, that helped me get my dog out of my locked car today at Trim Time Pet Center. You were so nice to us and helped me with such quickness I appreciate what you did for me and my dog today! I'm sorry but I don't remember your name. Thank you so much!

Thank you to Milwaukee and Glendale Police departments for recovering our son’s truck that was stolen last night. Our son is a Marine and drove around and found his truck and Milwaukee and Glendale Police responded quickly! 💙
