Our Dispatchers and Patrol Officers recently completed a 2-day ALERRT Active Shooter Response Training held at Dawson Community College.

This training helps strengthen the teamwork, communication, and response needed during critical incidents where every second matters. We are proud of our officers and dispatchers for continuing to train together so we can better serve and protect the Glendive community.

A strong response starts with preparation, and we are thankful for everyone who took the time to sharpen their skills and work through this important training.

This past Saturday evening, our Dispatchers came in from 5:00–9:00 p.m. to complete Emergency Medical Dispatch training.

Their willingness to give up part of their weekend speaks volumes about their dedication to the people they serve. Dispatchers are often the first voice someone hears during an emergency, and continued training helps ensure they are prepared to provide calm, professional, and effective assistance when it matters most.

We are proud of their commitment to continuing education and to providing the best possible service to Dawson County and the Glendive community.

*Special Announcement*

Today, the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club - Beartooth Chapter traveled to our area to show support for Tim Therrien, retired Glendive Police Captain and current Chaplain for the Glendive Police Department and Prairie County.

Tim suffered a stroke in March and continues to face significant medical expenses, including approximately $70,000 in unpaid medical bills, with around $30,000 related to Life Flight costs.

Officers from the Glendive Police Department and Prairie County joined the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club in an es**rt from Terry to Tim’s residence, where Iron Warriors presented Tim with a donation to help with his medical expenses.

Tim has spent years serving our community, our officers, and first responders across the region. He continues to serve today as a Chaplain, providing support, encouragement, and care to those who serve others.

Thank you to the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club for making the trip and for supporting someone who has faithfully supported so many.

Something we don't talk about enough: dog bites.

Every year thousands of children are treated in emergency departments across the U.S. for dog bites, and kids under 6 are especially vulnerable. And here is the part that surprises most people: it is usually not a stranger's dog. It is often the family pet.

A few simple things parents can teach their kids right now: always ask before petting someone else's dog, never bother a dog while it is eating or sleeping, and never approach a dog you do not know without an adult present. Supervision matters more than most people realize — even with dogs your family knows and loves!

Dog bites are a preventable public health issue. Share this as a reminder this summer when kids and dogs are spending more time together outdoors. 🐶

We wanted to give a shout-out to Bridge the Gap Coalition for dropping off Subway cookies yesterday for Mental Health Awareness Month and the Glendive Garden Club for dropping off donuts and pastries this morning! We are incredibly blessed to have the support from this community and the citizens that have continually brought food and goodies to the police department over the years - the officers and dispatchers truly support your kindness! 💙
