Three education-related bills are moving quickly through the California Legislature, and concerned citizens have only a short window to speak up.
📞 Please contact Senator Sasha Pérez and respectfully ask her to oppose:
▪️ ACA 7
▪️ AB 1665
▪️ AB 2117
A few minutes can make a difference.
⚖️ ACA 7 – Weakens Proposition 209 Protections
ACA 7 would ask voters to repeal key provisions of Proposition 209, allowing public institutions to once again consider:
• Race
• S*x
• Ethnicity
• National Origin
📅 Senate Committee Hearing: Tuesday, June 9
If you believe in equal treatment under the law, now is the time to speak up.
🏈 AB 1665 – New Mandates for Coaches
AB 1665 would require additional state-mandated mental health training for school athletic coaches.
Concerns include:
• More requirements for volunteers
• Increased costs for schools and athletic programs
• Additional state mandates
📅 Senate Education Committee Hearing: Wednesday, June 10
Tell Senator Pérez to vote NO on AB 1665.
🗳️ AB 2117 – Removes Voter Choice
AB 2117 would transfer the selection of California’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction from voters to the Governor.
Concerns include:
❌ Less voter accountability
❌ Less public input
California voters deserve a voice in choosing the state’s top education official.
Tell Senator Pérez: Vote NO on AB 2117.
