Hi my name is Christopher Ross. I moved to Texas back in March of 2018 from California. I began my police career July of 2018 with the Arlington Police Department. I joined the Glenn Heights Police Department on December 21, 2020. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Arkansas State. I am originally from Stuttgart Arkansas, and I really enjoy coaching kids in sports and spending time with my family and friends. 📣PRESS RELEASE: ROBBERY ARREST📣
On 5/8/2021 at 10:51 AM, Red Oak Police Department personnel were dispatched to Watkins Park located at 298 Liveoak Street in reference to a stolen vehicle in progress. The on-duty dispatcher advised officers that several black male subjects had forcefully taken the keys from a 14-year-old girl that was getting something from her parent’s vehicle. Three of the four subjects entered the White 2006 Ford Expedition and fled the scene eastbound on Red Oak Road towards SH-342. Dispatch further advised that family members of the victim were following the vehicle in their personal vehicles and relaying their location to dispatch.

At around 10:53 AM, the three subjects bailed out of the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of 109 W. Red Oak road as multiple Red Oak Police Department personnel were arriving. Two of the three subjects were taken into custody after short foot pursuits. Red Oak Police Department personnel started a canine track for the third subject and advised dispatch to contact the Ovilla Police Department and Ellis County Sheriff’s office for assistance. Dispatch advised that another subject had allegedly remained in the park area and citizens had the subject trapped in a park bathroom. Red Oak Police Department personnel requested that the Ovilla Police Department and Ellis County Sheriff’s Office personnel be directed to Watkins park for the fourth subject. Red Oak Police Department personnel took the third subject into custody after a Red Oak Police Department canine tracked the subject to bushes where the subject was hiding. Shortly thereafter, dispatch advised that Ovilla Police Department and Ellis County Sheriff’s Office personnel had arrived on scene and taken the fourth subject into custody. The stolen vehicle was subsequently returned to the owner and each suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Red Oak Police Department. The juveniles were subsequently transported to the Ellis County Juvenile Detention Center for their alleged involvement in the robbery and engaging in organized crime offenses.

1. Suspect # 1 is a male juvenile from Duncanville and will not be identified pursuant to state law but has been referred to the Ellis County Juvenile Detention Center for his alleged involvement in the offenses.

2. Suspect # 2 is a male juvenile from Grand Prairie and will not be identified pursuant to state law but has been referred to the Ellis County Juvenile Detention Center for his alleged involvement in the offenses.

3. Suspect # 3 is a male juvenile from Dallas and will not be identified pursuant to state law but has been referred to the Ellis County Juvenile Detention Center for his alleged involvement in the offenses.

4. Suspect # 4 is a male juvenile from Dallas and will not be identified pursuant to state law but has been referred to the Ellis County Juvenile Detention Center for his alleged involvement in the offenses.

The Red Oak Police Department would like to say THANK YOU to our citizens, the Ovilla Police Department and the Ellis County Sheriff's Office for their assistance. This was a perfect example of how the community and local law enforcement can work together to send a message that crime will not be tolerated in our communities.

This weekend we celebrate the mother’s in our lives. The ones who know us the best, and still love us the most. In honor of our Mothers, Step-Mothers, Grandmothers, Dog Moms, Cat Moms, and Motherly figures, I would love to hear from you.

· Share a picture of the moms in your life,
· Share the best advice your mom gave you, or
· Share your funniest mom moment

For me, we didn’t have a whole lot of money growing up. However, my mom though came through on a genuine leather jacket as a gift to my dad. A little while later, we were given a dirt bike that didn’t work, but my dad and my uncle were able to get the dirt bike running. That dirt bike ran for about 6 minutes before my dad, while show boating, wrecked it and ruined that genuine leather jacket. I’m pretty sure she never forgave him but it was funny watching him try to earn her forgiveness.

Hello, I am Audrey Steele. I am a Communications Officer for the City of Glenn Heights, but that is not my whole story. I grew up in Glenn Heights and that provides me with added incentive each and every time I come to work. I am not coming to a job, I am coming HOME. I have been proud to COME HOME and serve the city and citizens of Glenn Heights since January of 2015. I currently hold an Advanced Telecommunications License and I am a certified Communications Training Officer. I joined the Glenn Heights team to serve the community I grew up in and love. In 2017 I was honored to be named the department’s Communications Officer of the Year. When I am not at work, you will find me hanging out with my family, which includes my dogs, or serving my church as a Youth Pastor. Being a Youth Pastor and Communications Officer go hand in hand with my want to make the world a better place.

Last week, while watching the evening news, I was saddened to see back to back stories where intoxicated drivers had caused accidents and people died. I know too well that alcohol is a fact of life. That does not mean we should continue to allow it to be a fact of death. I did a little research and found that over my last 20 years with the Glenn Heights PD that I investigated, or was part of, over 700 DWI arrests. Even though I did not perform each and every one of the arrests, as I just assisted another officer, that number is staggering. I then did some personal reflection across this time and started remembering the arrests that were never made. I am talking about the DWI accidents I investigated where someone died. So I went to my trusty computer and went through the records and found that I had personally worked 9 DWI accidents involving deaths. Each of those deaths were preventable. Of course it is safe and easy to blame the drunk driver, but in many of those instances there were opportunities to intervene. Family, friends and even strangers can all have a positive effect if they are willing to stand up and say NO MORE. So lets come together and make a difference to PREVENT the problem rather than just cleaning up afterwards. The clean up is heartbreaking to so many people.

Below are some staggering statistics that show just how profound the problem really is.

- More than a quarter (25%) of all traffic-related deaths are the direct result of alcohol impairment. (NHTSA)
- Every day, 30 people in the United States die in car crashes with an alcohol-impaired driver. This is one death every 50 minutes. (CDC)
- As of last year (2020), about 290,000 are injured in such accidents every year. (NHTSA)
- Drunk driving cost the United States $132 billion in 2011. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving)
- 10,511 people died in alcohol-related accidents in 2018. (NHTSA)
- In 2017, more than 10,800 people were killed in drunk driving incidents. (NHTSA)
- In 2016, 10,497 people were killed in crashes involving a drunk driver. These deaths accounted for 28% of all U.S traffic-related fatalities. (CDC)
- Drivers with a Blood Alcohol Content of over 0.10 are 7 times more likely to be involved in a fatal accident than sober drivers. (Responsibility.org)
- Over 10,000 Americans a year are killed by drunk drivers, about 1,000 of them being children. (CDC)
