The City of Glenn Heights is working to keep residents informed about potential adjustments to water and wastewater rates as we prepare for the FY 2026–2027 budget.

A significant factor affecting the City’s utility budget is the rising cost of wastewater treatment services provided by the Trinity River Authority of Texas (TRA). TRA has notified the City of its intent to increase Glenn Heights’ costs by approximately 55% for the upcoming fiscal year.

According to TRA, much of the increase is associated with rising debt service and capital improvement costs needed to expand and maintain the regional wastewater system as communities continue to grow. TRA’s FY 2027 budget reflects a 68.28% increase in debt service, primarily related to existing debt and planned financing for major capital improvements.

Administrative Offices and the Glenn Heights Community Center will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. CWD services will not be affected. Normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8, at 8:00 a.m.

Yesterday, Glenn Heights residents, City Council Members, and City Staff had the opportunity to visit an operating cloud data center similar to the facility proposed for Glenn Heights.

Participants walked the perimeter, observed the site, experienced the surrounding environment, and learned more about data center operations and what these facilities are like within a community.

The City extends its sincere appreciation to DART and the City of Richardson; and Mr. Charles Goff, Assistant City Manager for the City of Richardson, for helping make this educational opportunity possible. We especially appreciate the City of Richardson for providing meeting space to accommodate our guests.

We also thank the representatives directly involved with the proposed development for taking the time to participate, engage with our residents, answer questions, and provide valuable information about the project.

Most importantly, thank you to the Glenn Heights residents, Council Members, and City Staff who participated. Your willingness to learn, ask questions, and engage in this important conversation truly makes a difference.
