The Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Fire Management Officer (FMO) in Glennallen, Alaska. Under the direction of the Coastal Region Fire Management Officer, the Area FMO is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and supervising multiple operations and projects related to the Area's fire management program.

This position manages Initial Attack Operations, Prevention, Fuels, Training, and Crew programs within the area. The Fire Management Officer is a regular full-time position and functions at the supervisory level.

During this session, we will share what we have learned through this project, what we have taught in the school districts, and our plans for the future. Wear warm clothing to be able to work on Copper after the Lecture.

The Bureau of Land Management Alaska State Office has reached an important milestone with a decision to convey more than 12,000 acres of land near Cantwell to Ahtna, Incorporated under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.

This action advances decades of work to fulfill ANCSA commitments while supporting Ahtna’s long-term stewardship, economic opportunities, and role in future infrastructure and energy development. It also reflects continued progress under the Alaska Land Transfer Program, one of the largest and most complex land transfer efforts in U.S. history.

With more than 97 % of ANCSA lands already conveyed, this decision represents meaningful forward momentum and a continued commitment to honoring land agreements and strengthening Alaska’s future.
