Last night for drill, the Glenolden Fire Company took advantage of the nice weather and crews traveled to the elementary school focusing on apparatus operations. Driver trainees conducted aerial operations with the Tower, gaining valuable hands-on experience in setup and operation.

New Engine drivers and members on driver training of the Engine also completed a pump panel confidence drill designed to reinforce knowledge and proficiency in pump operations.

Shortly after 9:00 am the Glenolden Fire Company was dispatched to the 200 block of Marshall Ave, Collingdale for a working 2 alarm dwelling fire.

Tower 5 with a crew of four operated as the second due truck with crews initially throwing ground ladders, performing searches of the exposure and opening up for the engine crew.

Additional manpower also operated off of the bucket of Tower 5 for roof ventilation and master steam operations.

Tower 5 remained on scene for approximately 3 hours before returning available.

On May 23, 2026 just before 12:00 pm the Glenolden Fire Company and mutual aid companies were dispatched to the unit block of Stuart Ave for a working dwelling fire with possible entrapment.

Engine 5 with a crew of four arrived on scene as the second due Engine deploying a second hand line and going in service and confirming that all occupants were out of the residence.

Additional manpower was tasked with vertical ventilation and checking for extension on the roof.

Lieutenant 5A held the Stuart Avenue Command.

Crews operated for roughly one hour before the incident was placed under control.

Mother’s Day Flower Sale!

We will be hosting our annual Mother’s Day Flower Sale next weekend!

It will begin Saturday, May 9th at 8am and end at approximately 8pm and then begin back up on Sunday, May 10th at 8am until 2 pm or sell out, which ever comes first.

Our tent will be located at the corner of West Ashland Avenue and MacDade Boulevard in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank.

Tonight for drill members spent the evening sharpening their skills with ground ladder drills, focusing on single-man throws, alley raises, and the 35 foot ground ladder to build speed, efficiency, and confidence on the fireground.

At the same time, a group of our newest members reviewed equipment focusing on learning the layout of the trucks and the tools in the fire service.

Tonight for drill, the Glenolden Fire Company trained alongside Holmes, Sharon Hill, and Darby Township Fire Companies in a hands-on review of Tower 5 and parapet ladder operations.

Crews worked through setup, positioning, and reviewed scenarios to sharpen skills and ensure coordination on the fireground. Training like this strengthens our teamwork and keeps us ready for the fire ground.

We would like to thank all companies for coming out!
