🚲 Happy World Bicycle Day! 🌍

For many of the residents at The Open Door Mission, a bicycle is more than just transportation — it’s a way to get to work, attend recovery meetings, make appointments, and build independence.

We are currently accepting donations of gently used bicycles to help our residents stay connected to employment, recovery, and the community. Adult bikes in working condition are especially needed. Helmets, locks, and bike lights are also appreciated!

If you have a bike you no longer use, consider giving it a second life and helping someone move forward on their journey. 💙

🎨💚 Chalk The Walk was a beautiful reminder of the importance of community, connection, and mental health awareness.

We were grateful to be part of this meaningful event and especially proud of two of our residents, John and John, who helped man The Open Door Mission table throughout the day. Their willingness to serve and engage with the community is a great example of growth, encouragement, and giving back.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared conversations, and helped spread awareness and hope. Together, we can continue breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and remind one another that no one has to struggle alone. 💚

🌱❤️ What a Blessing! ❤️🌱

Yesterday, Open Door Mission was blessed by an incredible team of volunteers from Pine Knolls Alliance Church who generously gave their time, energy, and hearts to serve our community.

Their team worked throughout the Mission, deep cleaning multiple areas, refreshing spaces used daily by our guests, and building beautiful new garden beds that will help provide fresh produce and create a welcoming environment for everyone we serve.

From hauling soil and constructing planter boxes to scrubbing, cleaning, and encouraging those around them, these volunteers truly demonstrated what Genuine Love looks like in action.

🚛 A special thank you to R&D Towing for arriving with a truckload of gardening soil for our new garden beds. What an incredible gift! Their generosity helped make this project possible and will have a lasting impact on the individuals and families we serve.

We are deeply grateful for these community partners who continue to come alongside Open Door Mission and help create spaces of hope, growth, and transformation.

The partnership between The Open Door Mission and the VA helps ensure local veterans experiencing homelessness have access to support, resources, and a path forward.
