Today was a great day for the residents of — and visitors to — Shaler Township’s parks.
Shaler Township unveiled 12 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across 10 parks, bringing truly lifesaving technology directly into the community.
These are not standard AEDs. Each device features:
• A large visual display to reinforce voice prompts
• Real-time monitoring of location and readiness
• Cellular/WiFi connectivity that automatically alerts Allegheny County 911 and Shaler Hampton EMS the moment pads are applied
• Precise location data to speed EMS and first responder arrival
In a cardiac arrest, minutes matter — and this technology helps ensure help is on the way immediately.
Shaler Township is unique among the communities we serve due to its extensive park system, making this investment especially impactful. Their commitment to public safety and community wellness is clear, and we’re proud to partner with them on this initiative.
Stay tuned for information in the next couple of weeks regarding Hands Only CPR training that will be offered in all 10 of Shaler’s parks, and also Etna and Hampton’s parks free of charge after school lets out this Summer.
And last, but far from least - Hands Only CPR Training in the comfort of your home by borrowing a CPR manikin and watching online training provided by Shaler Hampton EMS staff at Shaler North Hills Library or Hampton Community Library
