Founded by a group of visionaries in the midst of the Great Depression, the Glenview Public Library has spread its roots in the same corner of downtown Glenview since 1930. The new 85,000 square foot state-of-the art library facility opened its doors in October 2010.

Fall is brewing at the Library! 🍂

Our new Glenview Grind lobby café is officially up and running, and we’re ready to celebrate! Join us Wednesday, September 9 at 4 PM for a ribbon cutting, pumpkin spice, and some delicious fall treats.

Last week we hosted a reception for Khursheed Ichhaporia's Vignettes from Mongolia photography exhibition and celebrated Mongolian culture with traditional music and dancing. Thank you to Oakton College Oakton College, the Consulate of Mongolia in Chicago and Glenview School District 34 Multilingual Services for helping to make the event a success.

The exhibit is on display through Tuesday, September 15.

On Monday we welcomed the Glenbrook High School District 225 Administrators Academy to GPL! The group enjoyed a tour of the Library and learned about the many resources available to D225 students and educators. We're grateful for our strong partnership with District 225!

"May Peace Prevail on Earth."

Last Thursday, members of Library staff, board, and the Rotary Club of Glenview Sunrise celebrated the installation of the Peace Pole in front of the Library. These peace poles can be found in communities all over the world, each one sharing the simple but meaningful message of peace in multiple languages.

We hope this peace pole will be a welcoming reminder of the kind of community we all want to be a part of that values kindness, understanding, connection, and peace. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Glenview Sunrise for this wonderful gift, and we hope you all take a moment to find it during you next trip to the Library.
