The organization is dedicated to the alleviation of hunger by making connections between those who have surplus food and those who need it. Your tax dollars at work! Last week, I stopped by the completed ADA curb ramp project along Bosworth Lane in Village of Northfield. This $130,000 Invest In Cook project created
accessible sidewalk connections to many community spaces and an existing pedestrian bridge to Northfield’s downtown district in one of the Village’s most densely populated neighborhoods.

With changes being made to SNAP benefits, I was fortune to meet with Kingswood United Methodist Church to learn more about their food pantry. Kingswood operates a food pantry that is open Thursdays from 9:30AM - 12PM, and provides food on an emergency basis to families and individuals from Wheeling Township. Through the generous donations of food items from Kingswood and other community members, 40-60 families are served each week. Donations are accepted in the Fireside Room in a designated bin, and may be dropped off between 9AM and 5PM daily. Learn more about ways you can help: www.kingswoodumc.com/food-pantry

During the May Board Meeting, Cook County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution recognizing May as Jewish American Heritage Month. Thank you to AJC - American Jewish Committee and Jewish United Fund of Chicago - JUF for attending the meeting!

This weekend, I visited the Mongolian Heritage Center for Mongolian Heritage Promotion Day. It was a great opportunity to celebrate Mongolia's rich culture and traditions through traditional music, dance, games and food.

The Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) has opened its site-based waitlist for one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom rent-subsidized project-based voucher (PBV) units for Poppard Place located at 1593 Shermer Road, Northbrook, IL 60062.

To be eligible for a PBV unit at this property, applicants MUST disabled or a member of the family must be disabled. You must provide evidence of the disability at the time of application.
