Hispanic Heritage Month spans from September 15 to October 15 and celebrates the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. In addition, September 23 is the International Day of Sign Languages, which raises awareness of how important sign language is in upholding the human rights of the deaf community. September 23 was chosen because it was the date that the World Federation of the Deaf was established in 1951. -CDLE
