Community Builders was in Leadville this week to kick off the public review period for the One Community Plan - Leadville and Lake County's first-ever joint comprehensive plan.

More than 60 community members joined us for an open house to explore the draft Plan and share feedback on key priorities such as workforce housing, climate resilience, and infrastructure modernization.

We are so grateful for the time, ideas, and energy the community continues to bring to this process! The Plan is on track to be considered for adoption by the City and County this summer.

Silverton, Colorado and CB have partnered on many projects together. In our most recent Story of Impact, we revisit the Silverton Compass Master Plan, a ten-year, community-produced document identifying goals and actions for the town. CB is thrilled to announce the West End Vision Plan is officially adopted by the Towns of Nucla, Naturita, and Norwood, along with Montrose and San Miguel counties. Great news from Montrose, Colorado! Community Options, Inc. is moving forward with a plan to build affordable housing for low- to moderate- income residents, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

CB salutes the City of Montrose and Community Options for effectively utilizing the resources developed in the Affordable Housing Toolkit, a project of the Colo. Division of Housing and created by Community Builders and Enterprise Community Partners.

Today, we celebrate the release of the final West End Vision Plan! Many months of community meetings, information gathering, spaghetti and taco dinners, and ice cream socials held in libraries, schools, farmer’s markets and town halls have come together for the three municipalities of Nucla, Norwood, and Naturita.

Our thanks to the people of the West End for showing up and sharing their passion for their hometowns and dreams for the future.

Awesome work, Silverton!!

Huge kudos to the Town of Silverton and the Silverton Housing Authority for taking bold, decisive action to address the housing crunch. By fast-tracking the affordable Anvil Townhomes, 10 new units will be ready for occupancy in March 2026, making Silverton the first local government in Colorado to increase its affordable housing supply in support of Prop 123.

CB is proud to have partnered with Silverton in the early 2020s, including work on the Compass Master Plan and their team’s participation in our Building Better Places training in 2024. Our work together set a clear course for advancing affordable housing, calling for a dedicated Director of Housing, strong partnerships and funding, and land use code updates, helping turn vision into real, on-the-ground progress. A great example of community planning and strong partnerships paying off!
